It's a two-way deal, not a surprise.

I'd be shocked if ti is more than 700kI'll say under $8M.
I expected 650k, but expected him to get closer to 250k in the AHL
so how does that guaranteed 190k work exactly? I've been seeing this more and more and never noticed it before last season. Is he guaranteed "X" amount of days on the roster to make up that extra 40k?
I guess, because if he spends the full year in the AHL, they would have to give him another 40k. The better question is, does that 40k count against the cap? If it doesn't, should it?Or is it like the equivalent of a signing bonus but at the end of the season?

Great question, or would it not count since it's under the amount that can be buried in the minors anyways?
I agree. If he's in the AHL, I don't get how any of his salary of 190k can be applied to the NHL. I'm guessing NHL cap would just be 650k/82 x games played?

The Flames announced today that they have signed goaltenders Jon Gillies and David Rittich, each to a one year two-way contract.
