HF Habs: Flames or Panthers 1st Round Pick 2025: Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

It's pretty sure.. there's ~10 games left for teams. There's a number of teams between Calgary and Detroit. It would take multiple teams between Calgary and Detroit to win 3 more games than the Flames over a 10 game stretch. That's really really hard to do.

It will be interesting to see how the standings look in 3 games: Calgary plays Dallas, Edmonton, and Colorado next.

Will McDrai play though?

Either way, they have a 7 points lead on Detroit. 4 of their remaining games are against San Jose and Anaheim. Detroit's last 5 games are against Florida, Tampa Bay, Dallas, New Jersey and Toronto including 2 back to backs. 0 worries; Calgary is not falling that much. At this point, we'll be lucky their pick is higher than 15.

Anaheim can be good sometimes. Hopefully they can beat the Flames to help them drop below 15.

Bottom teams can be surprising in the last 5 games of the season. Pens lost against the Hawks 3 years ago in one of their last game and they missed the playoffs by 1 point.

Highly unlikely Flames fall bottom 10 now so cheering for them to lose every game from now on.
It's almost impossible.

Detroit is 10th

If calgary finish the year with 3-9-0 they'll have 85 points
If Detroit finish the year with 6-5-0 they'll have 84 points.

It would require either Calgary to lose almost all their games or Detroit to play better than they did so far this season.

I think CGY can go 3-7 and still finish 11th (ideal).. I've been rooting for them to win all season (to avoid) bottom 10... Time to start rooting for losses.
