HF Habs: Flames or Panthers 1st Round Pick 2025: Part II

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Honestly I’d probably rather cheer for the flames to finish 16th or 17th instead of risk having them win the lottery at 12 or 13 overall and take the pick away
Don't teams 11-16 only move up one spot if they win the lottery. If so if Calgary was 12th the pick goes to the Habs.

Teams I'm rooting against, that is to lose as much as possible, so the Flames pick stays out of the bottom 10:

West: San Jose, Chicago, Nashville, Seattle, Anaheim (9 points back and Flames have a game in hand)
East: Buffalo, Philly, Pittsburgh, Boston, Detroit (7 points back, same number of games played)

Teams I'm rooting for to pass the Flames so our pick is as close as possible to 11th:
Utah, Vancouver, St. Louis, NYI, Rangers (as long as they don't pass us)

Buffer team that it would be good if they didn't pass the Flames in case something goes wrong with the current bottom 10: Columbus.

It hard to pick between them missing the playoffs and risk winning the lottery and them making the playoffs and risk them making a run… both are low chance but with our luck…
at this point I'm definitely rooting for the Flames to lose, but not too much, so they don't make the playoffs. They would have to have quite a collapse (like Detroit and Columbus have just had) to fall into the bottom 10. And a current bottom 10 team would have to do well.

UI called this The Florida Troll Job in reverse months ago. It won't be hard for Calgary to sink if they find themselves out of it. Wolf just has to stub his toe.
I agree with you up until their tecent 3g win streak.. i dont think they have tank in them even if Wolf goes down.. i think they go .500 thr test of the way and gonish 13th. So long as they dont win the lottery, that is a fantabulous pick in that crazy contract, best possible outcome.. and we deserve it in lieu of the Panthers 2 years ago luck run that cost us a 16thoa

To make things easier, just vote for STL or VAN to nab that final WC2

That would put the pick between 11th and 16th, assuming the Flames don't collapse - which still could happen. Or, if they fall too far behind the 8th and final spot, they could start to tank. But both of those scenarios seem unlikely. The players are giving it their all to make it and are in poke position. But those Blues are really coming on. We'll see why on Tuesday.

I'm starting to see big possibilities for the pick to get to 12th or 13th or 14th. But 16 wou lo d still be nice. Though I've hear there is a drop off after about 10th 9verall. So 12th overall would put HuGo in better striking distance to move up.
