Flames last 23 games only 9 are against playoff teams. They got Sharks twice, Arizona twice, Chicago, Flyers, Nashville, Rangers. Fairly easy schedule

They have 22 games left, 11 against playoff teams and 11 against non-playoff teams. If they finish the season 10-12 (for 85 points) they most likely finish outside of the bottom 10.

All I get is 9 playoff teams. How you get 11? Dallas twice ,Colorado, Kings twice, Oilers, Vegas, Jets, Wild? Canucks and Rangers are out of playoffs as of today.

Yup, they do. Just looked it up in NHL yearbook. I used AI for Flames schedule too and it gave me wrong schedule. Other day gave me wrong faceoff percentage for Kulich. Shows AI not as good as they say.

I still stand with my prediction that they will draft 11th 
Flames have the 14th hardest schedule as of today.

A much needed win for Calgary tonight, moving them 2 points ahead of Vancouver for the last wild card spot. If they finish the season 9-12 they most likely finish outside the bottom 10.

Solid win by Calgary. Philadelphia was the real winnable game on this tough trip & they did it.
They've gone 2-2-1, which is pretty damn good. They finish it off in Dallas Thursday night then play Montreal Saturday in Calgary. Let's hope they have the "long road trip effort" going in that game as Montreal needs the win.
They move 2 points up on Vancouver, 3 points up on Blues, 4 points up on Utah (who hold the 10th OA spot).

So our top picks all shifted down the draft order by 1, that's not the worst thing in the world and the Penguins 2nd improved one spot.

He's tiny but very talented. He should definitely move to wing. You're just betting on upside here because the skill level is high but the physical tools aren't there. If he can improve his skating and learn how to survive in traffic, you could have a top 6 winger who feasts on the PP. If he doesn't hit there's not another role he's playing.

And Vancouver seems to have a tougher remaining schedule too. It might come down to the wire, but Calgary appears to have the edge on that last wildcard spot.

Benak's skill and Hockey IQ are "good" by NHL standards, "great" by USHL standards, and he isn't the worst defensively though he obviously struggles against bigger players along the boards.
Thing is, though he is agile and shifty as a skater, I've come to believe that Benak's overall acceleration/speed just aren't good enough to offset his slight frame and strength issues.
Moreso given that in my opinion Benak's skill/IQ aren't good enough on their own to elevate him through those issues. And that, to me, tanks Benak's draft stock quite a bit.
Oh, and Benak doesn't play a typical center game, isn't good defensively, so he'd project as much more of a winger than as a center.
Maybe Benak develops his skating/skills in the years to come and makes something of himself in the NHL, makes me look bad. But given his slight frame and overall game right now, that'd be a pretty major outside shot.
For me, Benak would thus be a DND until AT LEAST the third-round.
There are other players available with both a higher likelihood of reaching the NHL and higher ceilings that will be available in the top-60/90.
From that point on though, Benak starts being an interesting proposition.

I was hoping that Calgary would be good enough at the trade deadline that they wouldn’t be sellers. That was the case today. Also to note the teams currently holding the 8th, 9th, and 10th draft picks (Philadelphia, NYI, and Boston) all were sellers.
I’m still not sold Calgary won’t finish bottom 10 but it’s definitely looking better after this past week. Another 9 wins (maybe 8) in their last 20 games should put them outside the top 10 picks pre-lottery.

If draft were held today, Utah would be picking 11OA & Cgy 19OA despite only 3pts difference in standings.
Lots can happen in last 20GP
