HF Habs: Flames or Panthers 1st Round Pick 2025: Part II

Calgary is 5-5 in their last 10 games. I would be fine with Calgary going .500 the rest of the way. It would give them 88 points and outside the playoffs.

Looking at last years standings, it would equal to a 14th overall pick for us. It puts us in position to move up a couple of spots with one of out 2nd round picks potentially to pick 11th or 12th with hopefully our own pick in the top 10.

it looks like only 1 team can knock the Flames out of the playoffs and that's the Nucks. Unless you believe in Utah or the Blues.

what do the Nucks do, cause I don't see the Blues or Utah making the playoffs over them. Every 10 games they ave over 11 pts, so unless that # drops in half the rest of the way, it's going to be tough to lose too much ground depending on how the Nucks play the rest of the way as that looks like the only team that could knock them out of the playoffs.
Canucks were impressive over Colorado. They may have fixed their dressing room.

Canucks pass Flames putting us at 11th and 16th. We need Calgary to get to the 11th spot and hold. As for our pick. I think we are cooked, so might as well drop as low as possible. 6th + 11th is some serious value if there are opportunities to move up or package the picks for a top 4 RD or #2 centre.

Yeah, Vancouver & Calgary flip. Calgary's loss gives them draft position #14. It's getting tight, but still up 5 pts on #10 Utah due to Flames having tie breaker.

Calgary's next game is against Seattle, which is definitely a winnable game for them. They have a really tough March, though. They play San Jose and Seattle, but it's comparable to our January where they get a steady diet of top level teams.

Still a long way to go.

Hope they bank the 4 pts against Seattle and San Jose to give them more of a buffer heading into that March stretch.

I don't know whether to cheer for or against Calgary.

One team it looks like they'll finish ahead of is us. So us falling helps both our pick and keep Calgary's pick out of the top 10.

Crazy how the Fkames are two points out of the playoffs, but also something like 6 points out of the bottom 10.

This is intense. I don't know whether to cheer for them to losevor to win. Probably going .500 would be best. So I guess win one, lose one.

So if their pick is top 10 protected pre lottery, does this mean that if they finish 11th or 12th and win the lottery, we're getting their winning pick which could be second or third ?

Can someone give the exact possibilities?

Thnx

It's top ten protected. If it wins the lottery, it goes back to Calgary.

And they only do lotto for picks 1 and 2. It could not be a third OA.

Flames blow a 2-0 lead in the 3rd and end up losing in OT. Perfect situation really.

No, they needed the 2 points tonight. That's a tough one. They're 3 pts back of WC2 now.

When they come back from break, they play San Jose in Calgary and then go on a 6 game road trip where they play: Washington, TBL, Florida, Carolina, Philadelphia & Dallas.

They have a brutal March schedule with 10 road games vs only 5 home games and are playing against a heavy diet of top teams.

They're not a great road team.

Yeah, Calgary is toast. Almost a guarantee they will be drafting top 10 with their remaining schedule. Wolf is coming back down to earth too.

Get ready to pick 30th overall with Florida!

San Jose, Chicago, Nashville, Buffalo, Montréal, Anaheim, Seattle will finish under the Flames. That is 7 teams. You can also think of Utah, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. They are far from being guaranteed of picking top 10. Actually we are having one of the best scenario possible.

Let’s just hope they come back from the break hungry to make up those 3 points. They aren’t so far back that Conroy will suddenly shift gears and sell off his vets during the break.
