I will eat the other one.If the flames comeback from this one I will eat my sock. Otherwise I'm questioning whether I should even watch this period.

Well, five would be okay I guess. Tie it up get the point.Okay boys, just need a quick 6 goals here. Let's go.

Flames really looking at getting some separation fpr that 32nd GF spot. They still have a non-zero chance of failing to break 200 goals. They probably aren't breaking 210 at this point with their post-deadline play (something that 10 teams have already accomplished with still a good chunk of season to go).
Probably both. The roster isn't great up front, but going into the year, I would've expected a 20th-ranked offence give or take and about 25th on defence. We've been better regarding the latter (though still below average), but that has come at the cost of all their scoring. Not a great trade-off if you ask me.Is it more personnel issue? Or systems issue do you think for the lack of goals?
Did anyone really think Coleman would get close to 30 again? Sharangovich should be able to bounce back to 30 sometime in the future. Kadri, Backlund and Huberdeau all got older, however in Huberdeau's case he's actually having a fantastic goal scoring year. Our offense from the back end is near non-existent with 4 AHL/defensive d-man (like I don't care that Bahl doesn't provide offense if he can defend well) and with Andersson playing like trash we have really only Weegar back there to produce.Probably both. What concerns me is the amount of regression from the last few years. They scored 260 and 253 goals the previous 2 years. This year, they'll probably be around 205. Could be horrible shooting luck causing that regression, but I think a lot of it has been systematic.
I'll ruffle a few feathers with this one, but he hasn't been part of the solution this year. Ik the possession metrics are still solid, but playing at an approximately 30 pt pace with an average of 19 mins of ice time a night is part of the reason the Flames are in the tubes this year. Not his fault that he's been over-utilized, but he's not the player he used to be even before the injury trouble.
Some regression isn't surprising. If you told me the team would lose about 20 goals from 2023-24, I wouldn't have been shocked. But a near 50-goal regression in one season? This team added a very good scorer in Coronato, another year of development in Zary, and added 2 middle 6 guys from Philly (whose offense has fallen off a cliff following the move to Calgary). The team isn't completely devoid of talent, and those 3 factors should probably have helped blunt whatever regression we saw this year. I think a lot of it is just hindsight from seeing a horrible product this year, but if you go back to Sept 2024 and said the team would struggle to score 200 goals this season, people would be surprised.Did anyone really think Coleman would get close to 30 again? I don't think it's system, it's just the complete lack of talent. Our top line/PP shouldn't be filled with guys in their mid f***ing 30's.
Tank for McKenna. Also trade for Brady Skjei. Some regression isn't surprising. If you told me the team would lose about 20 goals from 2023-24, I wouldn't have been shocked. I also checked how many goals the team scored from March 1, 2024 to the end of the season (team had already traded Tanev and Lindholm and would trade Hanifin a few games later). They were still around a 3 GPG team. It's just that the defence really came undone from that point onwards, but they could still put the puck in the net.
The fall-off of Frost (and to a lesser extent Farabee) following their move to Calgary tells me the team fundamentally has an issue producing offense. Now whether that's because we are the least talented team in the league or there's an issue with how the tools we have are being deployed is a debate that can range all day. The fact we added these 2 players though and the team has continued to regress in their scoring however...
I won't argue that he's still a quality defensive player, but 19 mins a night and 0 offense is a problem for an offensively challenged team. 13-14 mins a night, 0 PP time, and ample PK time = bueno in my books. But Backs usage is just one criticism I'd have of Huska this season.Bahls past the Woll
Thank god that's over. Zero pride in the hockey team tonight, gutless toothless punchless performance.
He's a third line matchup center at this point of his career. Still our best matchup center actually. The reasons you could list for why the Flames are down the tubes this year is as long as my leg. His offense sucks but still quality defenseively.
We should have traded Andersson when his value was high. When Brandon Carlo got a 1st and multiple prospects, we would have struck gold had we traded Andersson at the deadline. Dallas probably would have given us one of Bichsel or Bourque and a first for Andersson.I won't argue that he's still a quality defensive player, but 19 mins a night and 0 offense is a problem for an offensively challenged team. 13-14 mins a night, 0 PP time, and ample PK time = bueno in my books. Anyways, I'm fully on team tank now. Haven't really been bullish on their playoff chances for quite a while, but this team needs to stop dicking around and secure a bottom 10 spot.
There has been all sorts of speculation as to what happened with Andy. From teams trying to throw shitty offers to Connie to him never being shopped in the first place. If the latter is true, that is incredibly disappointing. We should have traded Andersson when his value was high.
