Wondered why put Toffoli out there in OT and then he takes a low percentage shot that led to the Lindholm penalty. Come on Sutter

Was wondering if you guys could tell me if the PBP guy is pronouncing Kadri's name right. He's saying it with an Italian flare.

Kaw-Dree

instead of the usual

Kad-ree
That I've heard everywhere else.

On another note. Lucic has a very immovable and huge ass

Thats Calgary's ass.

I feel so bad for huberdeau, nothing he tries ever works. must be gripping that stick super hard rn. Maybe some time on the road will he good for him, and the team in general. On side note, i actually liked markstrom the last couple games. no softies and facing bunch of chances a game, team just gotta be a lot better

It was a decent effort by a lot of the team. Not going to be too upset about an OT loss to a good young team in November, could have gone either way. Thought it was a pretty shit call in OT, and that there were a couple shit calls on the Flames. Very apparent how much the team is missing Tanev & Kylington in this one. Not sure why Backlund and Lucic were benched in the third but I don't think it helped.

Good : Kadri was our best skater, disruptive on the forecheck, carrying the puck through the NZ, had several good chances and scored a goal. Carrying his line honestly. Lindy was pretty decent, also scored a goal and boxed out the Devils defensively. Markstrom despite what the SV% says was probably our best player overall, Flames gave up a lot of quality chances.

OK : Not really sure where to stick Zadorov so I'll put him here. Had an impact, being played over his head a little. Not sure if you can ask more of this player. Dube, our only winger that forechecked effectively. Andersson kind of a whatever game from him but our only defenseman capable of doing anything at the OZ blueline. Backlund and Lewis were mostly fine. Ritchie god bless him tries hard. Weegar had to cover for Zadorov a lot, but was poor in transition I thought.

Not OK : Hanifin, has his head up his ass this season but at least he picked up his first point of the season. Toffoli is simply not a top line winger, and should not be played as such. Coleman missing a lot of defensive assignments, cannot make a pass.

Bad : Mangiapane, not the play driving force we're used to. -2 on the night and passing up good chances. Not a lot of confidence right now. Lucic very ineffective, chasing the play and was walked badly several times. PP needs some change, too static and predictable.

Really bad : Huberdeau sucked. You can just see he is overthinking it every time he has the puck. Think the pressure of coming to a Canadian market and signing a big contract is a lot for him at the moment. Would rather he struggles now than later honestly but needs to start figuring it out. Mackey was brutal, left the net uncovered several times and struggled making simple plays. Rooney worthless, doesn't hit, can't score, pinned in his zone, can't even block shots. Not sure what the Flames saw in this player.

Be good to get on the road and get back to the gameplan. Chris Tanev get well soon.

Man, really wish people got over how Singh pronounces Kadri, maybe thats how Kadri wants it pronounced?

He doesnt pronounce Looch's surname Lusik either, does he?

Between Weegar, Huberdeau, Tkachuk, Bennett and Lomberg can we figure out the conversion rate for Calgary points per game to Florida points per game?

I must say this is Huberdeau's worst stretch of play in the regular season I've seen in a while.
Just nothing he's doing atm seems to work. I've rarely seen him come out of the boards with the puck, seems to be losing every battle. The success rate of his passes is lower than usual as well.

The good news is it's the start of the season and not even a quarter into games played yet. I still think he can turn it around for you guys, but yikes.

On a more positive note I think Weegar's been pretty reliable but I admittedly don't pay as much attention to the defensive side of things. I also might be getting Hanifins number mixed with Weegar's at times lmao.

He's had bad streches but he's never been this bad.

Lomberg has 2 goals this season. It's more than Huberdeau, Weegar

Then again its more than Reinhart too :help:

I think last years postseason comes close. But yeah, in terms of regular season play this is definitely the worst eye test wise and statistically in the last few years. Don't want to confidently say all time though, since memory is hazy and he wasn't always above a ppg with us.

people were worried about Kadri. His 7M/yr is a steal right now
On the other hand Huberdeau is not even worth the 5.9M he is making now. Good luck to us in the next 8 yrs
Weegar is also worth half his future contract

This great deal is turning sour quickly for Treliving.

Next time don’t trade for guys looking for retirement contract, no matter what their resume look like. Get them for free in FA. Most of them don’t work out

I’d rather Huby play bad now than later down the road. I think he’s trying too hard to live up to expectations that he’s making small errors that hurts his line’s momentum. Also, that line has definitely had some bad puck-luck. Hopefully he can start producing soon
Seriously have you seen him done anything as a Flames that says super star that can carry the team and is worth 10 M

I am seeing a guy that can’t skate with the puck, making bad passes half the times and tons of giveaways . I mean how is he going to start producing without another superstar opening up room for him or at least some linemates that can take advantage of his passes

The "Italian flare" you hear is more Singh switching into his first language voice. I know that he is Punjabi and Kadri is of Arabic descent, but I think Singh prides himself in pronouncing the names of Brown players with authenticity beyond that of other commentators.

Always like your game summaries. Appreciated and keep going.

Nailed it.

Pretty much no one cares here that much it's just a minor annoyance that comes across a bit highbrow when most of us are used to name butcherings of all ethnicities. Again is it ZAD - orov. Or Za-DOR-ov. Finnish names and many other European names are likely mispronounced on the regular and no one cares to correct the pronunciation. Gone are the days of yammy yagger for better or worse.
