In honour of the delightful Bob Uecker who passed away at age 90 a few days ago; should have won that game, but just missed by a hair.

Uecker was a baseball backcatcher and played in 297 games over 6 season in the pros, (he wasn't very good) then he acted in the sitcom Mr. Belevedre that ran for 5 years (1985 - 1990), was a personality with the WWE and a broadcaster for the Milwaukee Brewers for 54 seasons. He won a World Series with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1964. He was known for his humour and when asked what the best way to catch a knuckleball was, he replied

I don’t think it is particularly reasonable to expect Stanley to have been pressuring the shooter on the PP goal. Stan is on the weak side, so he tracks the centre drive to the net, correctly imo. Coleman finds an otherworldly pass across the seam to the winger which is what you theoretically cannot let happen - but like, look how well that pass was covered, I really can’t even blame us for letting that across. If Stan was more agile he could have responded better to maybe get in the lane, but that would been impressive for anyone, rather than expected. Coleman bought the shooter some time with that pass.

Again, all in my opinion and I’m not an expert :p

For me, it's the fact that he started to go to the right side where the Jets already had ample coverage. Hence leaving the Flamer unmolested.

But even if u are right,shot was top of circle untipped. Comrie has no excuse.

That Flame wasn't his guy (not that anyone is anyone's "guy" on a PK)

Where was the high F on that side? Why isn't he getting any heat? He's the guy that should have been out there to contest that shot

I don’t think that is correct, I think that wingers shot IS Stans responsibility to front.

Side note, Lowry was dealing with a hell of a pick by Andersson at the blue line

Most games Comrie has been great and I feel worse. Tonight, he was part of problem.

Logan Stanley (IMO) sucks but I don’t think he deserves any blame on that second goal.

People are talking about “gap control” like it was an even strength goal. If any Jets skater deserves blame it’s Lowry for putting himself out of position and not being there to deny the cross ice option.

Again… that shot really shouldn’t be going in. Kuzmenko hasn’t scored since mid October, wtf.

Not trying to offend anyone going over the games highlights and looking to explain why certain goals went in, but that's a futile effort. We shit kicked the flames for 60 minutes and they stole a game with a hot goaltender. You cant really dissect that.

Agree.

It was a bit of a pick but more just a badly timed attempt by Lowry to deny the entry. It happens, and I’d rather see too aggressive vs. too passive at denying PP entries which was a major weakness last season.

I love how everyone kind of ignores this because the stan stats are off the charts... so it doesnt agree with the anti stan eye test but also his supporters would now also have to acknowledge adv stats are valid...

That feels a bit harsh. The PP goal was probably saveable, but it was a shot from inside and below the face off dots off of a royal road pass. That’s got to be considered high danger in the numbers, and to my eyes, looked like a damn hard shot to save. The deflection was just stupid and I don’t even want to watch it again to see if he was over commiting to the orginal shot

Sorry to hear about the kidney stone @Aggie204, I've had two of them and they are not fun. The first one I spent a week in the hospital trying to pass it, until finally they decided to break it up with an ultrasound, but it moved and got stuck so they had to go in and pull it out. The doctor said it was the size of an apple seed. My nurse was very nice and said that she had a kidney stone before and had given birth and the pain from the kidney stone was much worse.

My second kidney stone I was able to pass on my own and still have it. It's very small. Since then, I have eliminated salt from my diet and drink a lot more water. I haven't had a kidney stone since, knock on wood...

Just got home. We out played them and got goalied. No doubt Stanley getting shit on but I thought he was one of the best players overall tonight. Games like that happen.

Stan over commits first of all... this is a result of his footspeed - he overcompensates and basically plays man coverage on the pk instead of his zone

Our pk is based on aggressive gap control... stan just consistently backs up too much and doesnt have the footspeed to challenge - thats never going to change

Yes its a nice pass but by no means a play of the week
