Sports is a zero sum game. If you suck, you get the number one pick. If you win, that’s great.

I have been listening for decades from y’all saying that a number one pick is what this team needs guess what? They do nothing they’re gonna get that. It sucks but so does ripping off a bandaid. Be careful what you wish for. You can’t win and get a good pick at the same time.

It's a fallacy to think 1 draft pick will turn everything around. Speaking of Chicago, they won the Bedard ping pong ball already. And, they still suck. They just fired their coach because their quick turnaround, the "1. draft generational talent, 2. win a bunch of Cups" plan, isn't panning out.

An irony is that GMBT has admitted that he didn't want to tank and that he expected the team to be reasonably competitive every season. Well, he's failing to live up to his own standard. He's put together a roster that is non-competitive, apparently by accident, but still.
