Panthers just made the same mistake the Devils made regarding Vanecek. Bob is a well conditioned goalie even at age 36, but you don't want Vanecek ending up being your playoff goalie at all!

I’d actually be surprised if Askarov isn’t up to end the year if healthy. Maybe he will be in the AHL a bit to work back from injury but I think overall he will be there if healthy. Especially if we are getting the effort from the team they’ve shown on this road trip.

I like it. Vitek was a very good goalie for a few seasons but had shit playoffs. As a backup he'll be great. Some playoff experience. I imagine his stats will improve quickly for the 5 to 10 games he plays for the Panther's. Then enjoy that bench Vitek!

Honestly, that's a solid trade for Florida. They don't exactly need the moon or the stars when it comes to backup goaltending, and they got that for almost nothing.
