This is wrong, prior to his injury Juulsen was trending down. He couldn't defend a forward attacking him and cutting inside to save his life. He was getting walked on at least once a game.

I'm hoping he turns it around and becomes a stable NHL dman but i don't see him becoming anything more than a bottom pairing player. Best of luck Noah.

I’ve literally seen the opposite of your post, and more of what you quoted in reply. Best of luck for sure, but the Hab fans I know have also said good things.

Still; this is a bizarre move.

They would rather Juulson than Yandle to be playing in their top-6. That is only logical if they are actually tanking.

You do know there’s a lot more guys in Florida than Juulsen and Yandle, right? Priskie, Keeper, Stillman, Forsling (just picked up) are also getting playing time. Has nothing to do with tanking and a lot to do with icing a defense that’s worth a damn. Funny post.

That’s the big one: Stillman is probably playing in the top 6 again which forces Yandle out when Nutivaara returns.

Seems kinda silly to me. Unless he's somehow ready and good enough to play right out of the gate, what exactly are the Panthers even gaining by claiming a guy who hasn't really played much at all in the last two calendar years...to just sit in the press box and not play games? Just seems like claiming a guy with the fantasy armchair GM mentality of just "claim everyone always" because it's "free stuff".

But whatever. I doubt Montreal are really sweating it. And at some point, he'll probably be back on waivers again.

they're gaining someone who can play defense. The D was terrible most of the season, Weegar was injured most of the season but plays well with Ekblad, and Stillman came on late but played well while paired with Stralman. They signed Gudas to add a much needed physical element, but they’re other addition (Nutivaara) has been out and looks to be out long term. Now, they have multiple guys in Juulsen, Priskie, Keeper, and Forsling. Those 4 are younger players and there’s a lot of back-to-back games this season, they can rotate them in and out of the lineup keep them all more fresh.
We’re all waiting to see what happens with Yandle also, but this isn’t just grabbing a guy to have him. He’ll play.

I think Juulsen is 100% NHL ready, yes he's missed a lot of time but for a 6th/7th D he should be fine as he's a very smart defender, excels on the PK, blocks shots, takes the body, has a big shot but doesn't use it a lot, decent puck mover. He's smart and hard working. His biggest problem imo has been his lack of mobility as he can get beat while having to pivot to his right by speedy forwards.

appreciate the solid assessment.
He's not a huge guy who can't skate, either.
Obv, the injuries have had affect but to his credit he's worked hard to come a ways back.

I could be wrong but sounds like issue is not nec his feet/skating but eye sight recognizing immediate on ice situation and then not processing this as quickly as he used to, and then trying to react

he's not huge but not small either, solidly built. His skating isn't great but it's not bad either. I thought it looked good at the Sunday inter squad game as I thought he was one of the best players for the Laval side.

Before the injury, in the NHL his problem was getting beat by speedy forwards as he would pivot too slowly.

Since the injury well we have no idea since he played 1 AHL game and 1 intra squad game, where imo he looked very good in both which is why i'm so pissed we lost him for nothing especially to the guy that just worked for us since 2013. But I hope it works out for him, and if not I would love to have him back in Laval this year as he would really improve our PK and defensive game.
