I think both sides get what they want out of this. Florida get another bargain bin defenceman to fill out their roster. Schmidt gets to go to a place with a coach he likes, and a reputation for rehabilitating guys careers. Plus, he's getting paid that buyout money by Winnipeg anyway. Win-win really.
