Was really rooting for him to work out with us but frankly I’m not that surprised he was waived. I don’t think Balinskis or Schmidt are very good but he has not been better than either of them. It is what it is.

Can't see him sticking around in NA much longer

Eventually you're just a bust rather than a "Former 8th overall with potential" and he will turn 25 in offseason and 2018 draft was long ago at this point

He's awful. Doesn't do a single thing well. Noticeably slow, noticeably small. Loses every battle along the boards, in open ice, and in front of the crease. Brought nothing to the PP. Only made the roster because he and Ekblad were our only two RHS defensemen out of the 10 with NHL experience.

Luckily there are a few teams that need and could handle a mediocre ´efender.

he definitely had some fun moments here in columbus but he misses a ton of games due to injuries, and sucks in the games he doesn't miss. seemed like a great dude though.

People forget how many reclamation projects Bill Zito goes for. There are two things he loves: 1) big name, 15+ season veterans, and 2) fringe players with pedigree who need a change of scenery.

Of the four former 1st Round Pick dmen whom we've given a shake (Noah Juulsen, Olli Juolevi, Tobias Bjornfot, Adam Boqvist), none of them have worked out. You might also count Hobey Baker finalist Matt Kiersted.

One of the things that's so fun about Zito is how he always has something low risk, high reward in the oven. His pro scouts are great, but they're very much volume shooters. Our September roster is always overflowing with 13/14Fs and 7/8Ds.

Buffalo is playing a lot of bums on D and this is a cheap flyer from the same draft class and country as Dahlin who would know him well.

Maybe they finally try literally anything to change literally anything.

But probably not.
As a sabres fan I take the risk just to see if playing with Dahlin flips a switch.

A salary of 750K is easy to bury if he is a train wreck.

Boqvist was given 10:48 EV TOI and by far the easiest deployment of anybody on the roster. If you wanna take a flyer, sure, but I don't know what you're expecting if you play him on the top pair.

He played 18:34 in his last game with Florida.

I am expecting to shoot Bryson who is a 5'9 stay at home defenseman into the moon

Out of Dahlin, Hughes, Boqvist, Bouchard, and Dobson, would you have believed me if I told you Hughes will be the most solid in the defensive end of the ice in 2025?

On the Habs board I kept saying that Hughes was more impressive then Tkachuk as I am a big NCAA fan so yes I would have outside of Dahlin as Hughes would have likely been my other pick, RD over LD plus I did have some concerns about his lack of size.

Fair enough, but that was a game where both our 2D and 3D were out. And this was the ice time split among defensemen.

Our PP went 0/3 btw. If you claim him, don't be optimistic. He is bad.
