Confirmed Trade: [FLA/CHI] Seth Jones (26.3% retained; $7M AAV) and 2026 4th round pick for Spencer Knight and 2026 1st round pick

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Yup. No idea what I am talking about. Jones is amazing!

The guy has been defensively clueless for years, dunno why now people all of a sudden are implying that he's good at D now that he's on Panthers. If anything, his stats are expected to look a bit better since his teammates are way better than before. But alas, he's pretty much continued from where he left off: An overall negative influence, earning 7mil AAV.

He's less of an albatross on the team than he was in Chicago, because the team has a lot of other guys who can pull the team forward. But can't say I've been overly impressed. Would've rather kept Montour at 7mil than got Jones for the same price.
Wasn’t possible at the time. We all would’ve rathered that.

He was awesome last game speak for yourself. The last 9 games he has played for us the team has 1.4 GAA, Bobrovsky has 3 shutouts, and our new backup has one shut out. Panthers have been just fine, Hes also learning a new system while playing like 28 minutes a night on the top pair.

Agreed 100%. It's only on the main boards. If you go read the Jones thread on the Panthers board they have the honest discussion and what they think of him. Also because he is still new and in the honeymoon phase. By mid year next year they will talk worse about him than Ekblad

I don’t expect him to learn much as I don’t think he is really capable of being that guy, but I would expect him to settle in and have up and down stretches of games instead of mostly bad ones.

Checking in again, he's been phenomenal. Coach Maurice poured his praises on him and like myself mentioned the fact that it will take him another year or so before he completely learns the Panthers system.

You obviously don't read enough of our boards: there's absolutely no one, and will never be anyone, that we bully more than we bully Ekblad. Absolute YEARS of it - you think Mitch has it bad?! TBH, I think the board regulars need him re-signed just so that they can continue to bully him for the rest of his career. Poor poor Fatblad...

As for Jones, I'm so bloody glad we got him when we did - we would have been caved in the last few games (yes, even more than we were) without him and his ability to munch those minutes with our blue line decimated without Ekblad and Kulikov. He seems fine to me - he's obviously struggled but then the whole team has lately, and he does need time to learn our systems. We tend to have a good record with rehabilitating failing d-men so I'm pretty confident he'll get there.

You do realize that if he were on the Leafs he would BY FAR be their #1 defenseman.

Of course. Every player on every team would be the Leafs best player. Been hearing it for years on here
Well then be real.
Tanev would be considered but he has zero offense to him.
OEL? Maybe a few years ago but not anymore.
McCabe, he’s gaining traction career wise but he’s not better.
Rielly? BIG L-O-L! He’s an offensive 2nd pair but he’s a 6-7 Dman defensively.
