Confirmed with Link: [FLA/CHI] Seth Jones (25% retained) and 2026 4th round pick for 2027 1st round pick and Spencer Knight

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Greedy, but it would be nice for Zito to find another gem in FA for the blueline again.

This year our starting 6 is fine, but the depth isn't really up to the task, even for 3rd pairing duties. Definitely got spoiled with someone like OEL on the 3rd pairing at times. Balsacks was a nice find, but not sure if he's ever going to get that consistency for full time 3rd pairing, and Schmidt is unfortunately here on the downside of his playing career.

Jones would definitely shine in that 2nd pairing role, but he's capable of 1st pairing with a guy like Forsling-especially once they get the ice chemistry down.

What's the boards thoughts on Nause/Alscher/Benning and their ETA-if at all for the NHL?

I really hope Benning gets games in to start the 2025-26 season. Even if it's on the 3rd pair. 20 or so games to get a good idea of where he is in his development.
Charlotte should be a playoff team so he will be needed there until they're eliminated.

Nause is in the ECHL so he's likely 2-3 years away?

Alscher is hopefully gonna turn into a Mikkola type and can become a #4 LD but I'll temper expectations and be happy with a bottom pairing D within the next 2-3 years.

By the time he is "good," will it really matter for Chicago? He is turning 24 in a few weeks. They are a dumpster fire right now. I think Knight is what he is at this point: a pretty average starter in the NHL and a good backup, but will be overpriced.

So the timeframe is 10 years? Yeah, Chicago could be good within that timeframe.
