What I find funny is that the Panthers fans believe their defense got better with Jones as Hawks fans believe they got better by getting rid of Jones.
both can be true. A motivated Jones is something we didnt see.

Both can be true. I’m sure Jones was frustrated there and that affected his play.
im not copying you youre copying me.

Well, it wasn’t Mackie at least. Let’s see how Jones fits in.
Or Sourdif. Glad to see we kept him.

Watching other games today it seems the consensus is that it was a win for both teams. As someone stated earlier in this thread, that's why Zito is able to make trades like this. No one feels like they were screwed over in the deal.

We have until Friday, let's see what else he can do.

People have a problem with the idea of Jones at 9.5M, he can’t run away from that cap hit

Hawks are a tire fire, where Jones has been playing as a 1D, with heavy cap hit. He goes from that to a defending Cup champs 2nd pairing with Mikkola at 7M.

That’s worlds apart

Way too often people have a bigger problem with the cap hit than the actual player and his play

Edit,
+ part of the reaction from Hawks fans is explained by Jones wanting out

We traded a piece that would be riding the pine during our next 2 playoff runs for a piece that will hopefully contribute to those playoff runs. Panthers management and ownership is committed to making this team a champion caliber team during our championship contending window period.

What a refreshing concept.

I was watching Steve Dangle's reaction to the trade and there was two fun facts I took away from it. First, Jones hasn't played less than 23:05 since the 15-16 season. Secondly, in a playoff game in '19, he played over 65 minutes. He's another Montour-like minute eater.

Was gonna post the same. That 65:06 minutes of ice time is NHL record too

Re: that post a couple pages back about why didn't Florida just trade Knight during the summer and bring back Montour, Knight had no value at his cap hit coming into this year. His solid season is why he became a moveable piece.

Because we would only have had 4.5M available, or 3.5M actually with a goalie replacement…

That isn’t enough to sign Montour.

We have accumulated 3M in cap-space since the beginning of the season with injuries and all… You’re missing those dollars !

and it's also possible that they think that Kirill Gerasimyuk could become the new starter. Maybe Bob could be a mentor for Kirill.
