"You think you have problems..." ~ Detroit, Toronto, Buffalo, and Boston. And that is just from the Atlantic.

Ekblad
Yandle
Demers
Matheson has been very solid, looks great as expected.
Pysyk has been very reliable and smart on the backend
Petrovic holding his own

our d is the last thing that needs fixing. we have good depth, but with huberdeau, bjugstad, jokinen out, if theres any 1 thing we need id say a winger, thats about it. and we don't even "need" that, especially with jussi coming back very soon, nothing major with him.

If the Panthers would like to balance their handedness a bit more, the Oilers have a slightly banged-up Brandon Davidson on offer. I think we stand to lose him in the expansion draft, so it would be worth it from an Edmonton point of view to flip him for a right-handed player who can slot in on the third pair.

LOL at this thread:laugh:

I don't think any Panther thinks our blue line needs fixing let alone for an aging vet that wouldn't be able to keep up with our new speedy break out system.

Either this is a ridiculously sarcastic thread, or it's a pretty uneducated one.

Panthers D has been great so far.

I think Florida needs to bring in some vets to help bolster their blue-line
1) Z Michalek

I know that Arizona sent him to the minors but I don't know if it was just a money thing last season he was playing just over 17 minutes but he played with Yandle for a few seasons so they would have some chemistry

2) C Gunnarsson
He is a solid top 4 D-man ,not a physical player but he plays his angles well and block shots

3) R Polak he is a hard hitting, shot blocking D-Man who has good wheels who just played in the Finals

What would it take to land these players

Thanks

Regardless of whether you actually need to upgrade ... it's not a money thing. Michalek has been a very good player for the Yotes over the years, but injuries have caught up with him. There is a good reason why 29 teams passed on claiming him off waivers - he is not worth $3.2m. I could see him being traded, but only if a team has a similarly over-paid guy they want to flip.

And the strangest thread of the day award goes to....

The Panthers literally went out and signed 2 of the best UFA d-men this summer(traded for Yandle's UFA rights but you know what I mean). They have Ekblad, Yandle, Demers, Matheson, Petrovic, Pysyk, they seem fine back there. Not sure why you want to trade for any of the defenceman in the OP, especially Polak, he's terrible

Everything is fine

My sentiments also. I was under the impression their defense is pretty good.

Yandle, Demers, Ekblad, Pysyk, Matheson seems pretty good to me.

I love that blueline, 6 defenseman that can play.

That group doesn't have elite #1D yet but it doesn't have a #6D either. It's pretty fun being able to watch Pysyk-Petrovic 3rd pairing and not be scared
Pysyk looks great.

You know the panthers defense is greatly improved when it is unbelievably noticable when they get stuck in the zone for a prolonged period of time. It rarely happens so far this season.

Lol I know with this thread title.
The Panthers did overhaul their D and along with their team looks very good.

You want a thread about fixing D?
Leafs need to fix their D. Florida is just fine IMO.

Legendary troll thread. What's next ?

Pittsburgh needs more depth at center ?

Does Dallas have enough skilled forwards in their top six ?

Tampa needs to shore up their goaltending ?

don't think it was a troll thread. simply a young guy who looked at the Panthers' player ratings on NHL 17 and made a thread

Try and sign Yandle in the offseason.

Look for a top 4 D in Free Agency, maybe someone like Demers could be a fit.

Give one of our top prospects more ice team.

If and ONLY if, we can do all these things, we should be able to fix our abomination of defense.

First, even if the D isn't playing as well as hoped (doesn't sound true) they made so many moves off season they are likely stuck with them, at least for this year.

Second, while I haven't checked actual stats, I bet every fan in the league believes their D is the absolute worst at clearing the puck. Every team has troubles from time to time because the other guys are good, too.

I am a Stars fan, and thought the Stars were very turnover prone in their Cup run years. Then, looked at the stats, and they had among the fewest turnovers in the league those years. We just tend to remember the bad zone exits and forget the good ones.

you misread my post. I was saying the D has been great and mentioned that it is jarring when they get stuck in their own zone for 30+ seconds because it happens so rarely.

polak goes against everything the panthers are trying to do with its defense. also, lol at thinking he has that kind of value

Not sure if he's going to get the same kind of icetime this year, but you don't have to look that far back to get the precedent for his trade value...got two 2nd's last year (like 7 months ago), so a 2nd/3rd is very reasonable to expect if he gets dealt again even with the aging and lesser responsibilities

I would argue that we got overpaid for him, but that market didn't set itself

I also think you guys should want nothing to do with Roman Polak unless you want grit for a playoff run

uhh well Florida has one of the best defensive cores in the league, I don't think they need to "fix it"...
