Unusually strong lineup for Swiss standards. Swiss junior teams tend not to play those exhibition tournaments with the best possible lineup but this one is pretty close. On defense, Häfliger and Geisser over Johnson and Meier are head scratchers but Nic Balestra and Endo Meier are most certainly injured so I expect at least one of Meier/Johnson to crack the roster. Forward group is pretty straight forward, no surprises there.

Czechs lost 5-4 but mrtka on top pair.. Mestalarisky with some goals, Holinka, Novotny, Hradec and Cihar all with nice efforts. All the names I want to see to be honest.

Thought Mrtka is already in NA. But nice to see Cihar and especially Novotny looking up the level of U20 already.

I have a really high hopes for Novotny, feels like he can be the next czech big thing, he has both the size and skill. Can he make the WJC if he stands out on this tournament? It would be definitely awesome

But yeah overall I like this group, if I look at the team I see most of the guys already playing mens hockey either in ELH or in 2nd Czech (Maxa liga) and that definitely wasnt something common couple of years back. So we are kinda catching up with Swedes and Finns in this regards and thats nice.

And thats without Badinka, Felcman, Sale and Dvorak who are also playing mens hockey already.

Btw why Badinka is not here anyone knows? Still the beef with the coach and we cant expect him for WJC or the club didnt free him for tournament?

If we add up our NA group for WJC we will have a nice group of ELH and AHL players playing mens hockey in top leagues and guys from CHL with top minutes, and Benak. Doesnt look half bad

Well, I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but considering that Badinka is either "injured" every time, or for some unknown reason does not play for the national team, but actively plays for his club, I would not have high hopes for his start at the junior championship . Sorry:D

I'm encouraged by returning bottom 6ers doing well in their 19 year old seasons.. zidlicjy and mestalarsjy.

I do like the looks of the squad. I get there will be other rosters that are stronger but I think we can compete.

I don't get it. Every tournament they keep on playing Niklas Blessing even though he's been piss poor pretty much every shift. Turnovermachine and incredibly soft defense. I'd understand it if they didn't have any options but Blessing is 06 born...literally the deepest Swiss group in I don't know how many years.

He was literally casually standing around watching Finnland score goals two shifts in a row. Why?

Clubs have to release their players for up to nine exhibition games during IIHF international breaks every season. So unless Badinka is sick or injured he either wasn't selected or rejected the invitation.

The Czech Republic played this tournament very well and deservedly won it. A strong bid for a medal at the World Championship. And this already well-coordinated lineup can be strengthened even more! Young Mrtka, Novotny and Cihar did not shy away from the more experienced ones - they can be tried at the World Championship. In defense, you can add someone from: Koci, Port, Dvorak, Badinka, Jiricek. In the attack line, the previously not so brilliant Hradec and Mastalirsky definitely deserve a place. And there are also Sale, Holinka, Jecho, Stancl, and Felcman, who can replace guys like Fiala, Janata and Hes (let's be objective: this trio has been out of the game a bit).

Except for Badinka.. How he could have a place in the selection at the moment, I have no idea..

I dont want to go to Badinka beef here again, but I think guy drafted almost 1st round and rutinely playing SHL in age 18, should have place in the WJC lineup even without testing.

But the problem is there is something fishy going on between Badinka and NT, or Augusta. So I dont give it much chances that he will ho, but in the case he would want to go, he should have a place in the team without question.

Now with Jiricek injured again, we need any top prospect D we have.

I don't think that Augusta would want to see the player play in the national team, when we know very well that last year Badinka played so badly in the national team that he didn't get nominated. And this season, he did not play a single match for the national team, so it logically follows from this that he will not play in the championship (I could be wrong, of course). When players like Galvas (who has a certain place in the team) can go to the preliminary matches, I doubt that Badinka would have any privileges.
