The only times a team that went 7 games in the first round have won the cup in the cap era, has been against an SCF opponent that also went 7 games in the first round.

Basically, if you go seven games in the opening round in the cap era, you don't have much hope of getting the cup, even if you get all the way to the Finals.

None of the other rounds have any trend at all.

He was a fired coach who replaced a fired coach. Went on a crazy hot streak and got into the playoffs and was 2 seconds away from beating the Pres Cup winning team in 7 games.
