Should be Sullivan.

Honourable mention to Cooper if the Lightning struggle out of the gate or Lalonde in Detroit.

Don't doubt the restlessness of aquilini by Christmas Time
They have literally been building a team around Tochett, besides there's a clause in JR's contract that keeps the owners away from those decisions.

Pretty sure Lalonde will be another victim of the Yzerplan.

If I had fallen asleep and went into hibernation during the Green hiring, but was somehow awakened by the Ullmark trade, I would have thought ''Man, the Sens may actually be a dark horse to be pretty good this year'' until someone told me ''Yeah, but they hired Travis Green to be head coach''.

I hated when the Devils hired him to be associate coach last year. The difference from the Green Canucks to the Boudreau Canucks that same season was insane. They got better in every metric, other than goaltending, which was fine before Green was fired. That's just how bad they were under Green that they somehow went 8-15 (or whatever) with better than average goaltending under Green that year. Then the Devils had their best goaltending of the season when Green was interim head coach thanks to the two deadline acquisitions, yet still finished several games below NHL 500 under him because they got worse at everything else and the good goaltending was negated by the suck that is Travis Green.

I'm surprised the guy lasted as long as he did in Vancouver. The bubble playoffs bought him some time. I remember when the covid shortened season was coming to a close (Which was a playoff miss yet again for the Green coached Canucks) and there were reports that Ron Francis and Seattle were very interested in hiring Travis Green as the first head coach for the Kraken if the Canucks didn't hurry up and extend Travis Green, who was a lame duck coach. They extended Green before he could become a free agent, only to fire him and the guy who hired and re-signed him about 2 months into the next season.
Not defending TG but the nucks had already turned a corner before TG was fired. We had won 3 straight and had been playing better prior to that.
The whole Bruce thing was a facade that was on Demko 100% nothing changed defensively and the only real difference was we played the shit out of the vets, screwing up Podz and Hogz and we had absolutely not defensive system, it was pond hockey.

You do remember his 2nd season right? He was completely unable to adapt when Demko went down.
We saw what an elite coach did when he lost his vezina level goalie, the team played low event smart hockey.

Bruce was a fun story but someone already did a video showing just how little things actually changed.

TG's biggest issue in Van was he played a complicated system that was high risk which led to a lot of odd man rushes. Hopefully for the sens sake he's changed but the fact that he brought in the two jack ass assistant coaches, doesn't bode well.
I don't blame him for NJ, they had shit goaltending, decimated with injuries and nothing to play for.

There was a time where every single metric, other than goaltending (it was about the same under Green as Boudreau) was better under Bruce than Green. I remember seeing all these stats and literally almost everything was better under Boudreau that year than it was under Green. Maybe by year's end the stats under Boudreau dropped off a bit, they certainly did in year two, but they got more than just a coaching bump.

The record under Green was a complete abomination that year, especially considering goaltending was above average. Usually you see things like .880% goaltending or worse when a team has a record like that.

Travis Green was horrible. Always has been. I'm actually confused as to why he was even brought back that year, considering how bad the results had already been to that point and the fact that his contract was up and he was a lame duck coach the year before. Probably because of the Markstrom/Demko smoke and mirrors playoff run where they almost made the conference finals in 2020.

Yet another HF thread where nearly everyone was wrong.

I'm going with Jim Montgomery.

Montgomery could be a dark horse to be on the hot seat. I could see any one of those guys going at the end of the season, other than Maurice and probably Cassidy, but I don't feel like many of them are a threat to be fired in-season, other than Lalonde. That could all change at some point.

Except for you two gentlemen. Well done, sirs!

When I wrote that in the off-season I never saw it coming this soon into the season.

But I posted after last night’s game that this was probably the straw that broke his back and I was 60% sure he wouldn’t be the head coach by Thursday’s game.

Now I wonder if Detroit will get rid of Lalonde and hire Montgomery.

I have no idea if Detroit would have any interest in hiring Montgomery. I just think they’re about ready to end the Lalonde thing. Maybe they are, but they also go with an assistant as an interim?

The Zadorov signing would have been good if they got someone who compliments his style like Marino or Fabbro but the Lindholm signing was insanely bad. That and moving Ullmark and giving Swayman all the leverage in the world when you knew it was going to be a vindictive contract negotiation on his side. Just utter mismanagement by Sweeney, he should be the one going. Though for a supposedly excellent coach Montgomery miscoached the Boston vs Florida series about as badly as possible

IMO Sweeney is gone if Boston misses the playoffs. He's had a decent run in bean town, but sometimes you need to clean house completely and reassess.

I'd say it was subpar, as he mostly coasted on Chara, Marchand, Bergeron and the Pastrnak selection by the previous regime while botching the 2015 draft as badly as possible (3 all stars in a row picked after his 3 consecutive first rounders). Only really good moves he has to show are McAvoy and to a lesser extent Swayman

Fair, I thought that they had a second ECF run aside from 2019 but I was mistaken.
