I don't think that's happening if there is a mid season firing. He barely kept his job when they hired LR, they left that decision to LR. My bet is they would turn to the Hogs coach, and then do a full process in the offseason.

Bedard can’t be slumping. Imagine 2nd year Kane being a sub 60pt player. It just can’t happen man. I’d imagine the Hawks wait until a major firing happens this season but i really hope they don’t ride out the season with this coaching status quo.

Bedard was looking like a possibility to crack Canada heading in to this season but I don't think his performance this season warrants a roster spot IMO.

The kid has to shoot the puck more often.

Yeah, getting worse as the season goes on is not a good thing. You would think the first month would be worse with the players building chemistry, etc. But our coach doesn't keep lines the same long enough for them to build chemistry.

I sort of expect a +/- of like .5 to be normal throughout the year. It is a luck intense sport, but being a whole 1.0 xG worse is real regression.

Frustration can be bad during development... Losing games is one side, having such a drought is the other.

I think we all do, I just dont think it matters in the grand scheme of things if it happens during the season or after it.

Luke isn't HC material at the moment and likely never will be. At least not at the NHL level.

He could be a decent coach for a team looking to tank and completely shit the bed a la Dallas Eakins.

At the NHL level he's probably a defense coach at best. Never a head honcho.

The league adjusted to Richardson. Unless it's an open transition they're taking the extra ice, not forcing shots, and connecting on a few extra passes. Hawks don't want the puck, most teams will be happy to stay disciplined, not take penalties, take the extra ice Richardson gives away, and outshoot the Hawks 27 to 24 knowing they'll have huge edge in play 5 on 5.

An opponent can just throwout a bunch of disciplined pylons and they'll snag a point.

Hawks lost 12 of their last 14 prior to Toews' last game and 5-17-2 in 23' from deadline week on that year but the justification wagon was gassed up and rolling. Wayyyy too much arousal about redundant picks so media ignored the play for the most part. It was terrible hockey but it was tough to distinguish coaching issues to players making errors. That said, they had 3 (THREE) 8 game losing streaks in a year. Insane and fireable no matter the circumstances. Even Savard said "oh my".

At some point in the summer of 23', he told KD "hold my beer" and set a record road losing streak, including an underappreciated 14 game stretch without a regulation win. Of course he finished out in fashion with bag skates and a 6 game losing streak. Bedard developed an aversion to shooting too.

What the hell does anybody in the front office think February and March will look like? It's going to be another trainwreck or some pretty offensive numbers with a team skating like a bunch of mercenaries looking for the next gig at best.

If the goal is to build a contender, it's not okay to keep this staff in place, it's going to take more and more time to unwind the damage.
