This team is likely going to finish with a worse record than last season
No, I don't think so.

They were -1.35 Goal Differential Per Game last season.

They are -0.74 Goal Differential Per Game thus far this season.

At this rate, they are pacing to go about +50 better in goal differential last season to this season. I'm not crowning Richardson's a*s, just setting the record straight there.

I do have a coach in mind if the Hawks go very young next year, but I might get shit for it.

DJ Smith. He couldn’t get the Senators over the line obviously. But by all accounts, he’s amazing with developing the young guys and bringing them up to the NHL level and playing at that level on a consistent basis.

That’s the kind of coach you need for a young developing team. Not a Richardson type, who was best known for just getting grinding teams to play a grinding game.

Hard pass. That’s the kind of hire that will have Davidsons seat hot soon after.

If you make the move, you do it for an established head coach. Not a Travis Greene, DJ Smith type.

Sullivan, Monty, someone like that.

Our last 3 coaches have learned on the job if you include King. Enough of that.

Monty would be great for our young D. Sullivan would be great for Bedard if he gets the boot.

I don't think KD will fire Richardson. GMs don't get more than 3 coaches very often so I doubt Kyle wants to put himself in that spot yet...but he has to know this guy is going to make more of his picks are going to look like crap whether they are or are not crappy picks.

Just to add more ammunition. LR during the Florida game admitted he was putting Bedard out against Barkov intentionally. This man isn't qualified to coach high school hockey. You don't put your best offensive weapon out against the other team's best defenders, ever. Even shit coaches know this.
Every time he opens his mouth, it just gets worse and worse

The funny thing is the “isn’t qualified to coach high school” part might seem like hyperbole but I literally had coaches in high school that were capable of line matching properly. My coach my senior year even went as far as having my line go 4th in the rotation to try to get better matchups (kinda hard to scout teams in high school). Apparently that’s a novel concept for a guy with an nhl job though

How did the hockey world watch Q win Cups with his line matching and not have every coach in the NHL see that’s what’s necessary? It seems sloppy to me to just send guys over the boards

I was at the game and didn't realize he was matching Bedard against Barkov until Pez wrote that in the gdt. Started paying attention to it in the 3rd, and yep, that's exactly what Luke was doing.

Almost was surprised when we were on the PK with Barkov out there and no Bedard.

Putting Anderson (who did jack shit tonight) with Bedard is bad enough. Purposely putting Bedard against a perennial Selke finalist every shift is absolutely a fireable offense.

That line suffered because of it

It makes no sense at all to use your superstar forward this way.

I know he won't be fired during the season(most likely), but this guy HAS to go after the season. You can't keep trotting out this blockhead f***ing loser of a coach who is just going to ruin players.

Who in their right f***ing mind would put the reigning Calder trophy winner out there with Joey f***ing Anderson?

What the hell are they trying to do to Bedard out there? The kid looks absolutely miserable. Every god damn game Luke just tosses a bunch of names in a hat, shakes it and then whatever two names he pulls out are the two players that play with Bedard that night.

Braindead decisions on a nightly basis. Get him the f*** out from behind the bench.

When your star forward and future face of the franchise starts publicly saying he feels like this, changes need to be made. You cannot let the kid continue to wallow and Richardson's handling of him is a big reason for it.
Yeah, isn't being allowed to play his game for the sake of defense, because the rest of the team sucks. No better way to have your future grip his stick tighter and feel like he isn't contributing than having him focus on the defensive side of the puck only.
