Fire Knoblauch

Not taking away any of the credit I just gave, but every coach looks a lot better when their goalies start to make some damn saves.

Also think Drive is right that the team was 'playing possum' a bit this season, with the slow start to the last series being a lot of the players coming back from injury etc and needing to gel

I still don't like how soft the team was playing in the regular season and bench management was a bit questionable (breaking down J Skinner and rebuilding him is fine if you actually play the damn guy after he has a great game, which happened multiple times). They're also lucky that not having home ice didn't bite them in the playoffs. A good chance that next series is the last time it's a concern at all, one way or another

All said, the coach looks for real in the playoffs, which is all that really matters.
You should take a break from posting.

I think the ‘softness’ was KK knowing what the only goal was, and never losing focus. He knew they had an older team, and that being physical wasn’t really our 82 game strength, and would wear down our guys. He knew from last playoffs that we can hit when we need to. As for home ice, same thing, we are a great playoff road team, and didn’t need to expend unnecessary energy to get home ice. I just think he’s such a perfect fit for this team, so I’ll always show my support for him on threads. You know I think you are an excellent poster, and have no problem that we agree to disagree on the odd item, as you are always civil.

That could be, and of course not having Kane definitely didn't help (regardless of coach). Frederic was added to help (and perhaps coach requested), especially since they didn't know how Kane would be coming back. I do agree that burning out to fight for division, conference or league lead, chasing a President's Trophy has led to the premature demise of many a team (Jets likely next). But I think there can be a balance. This team should have won the division, but it doesn't matter anymore. I feel like them not having home ice cost them a bit last playoffs. Maybe this team and a seasoned Knob are too much for that to matter anymore, sure is looking that way.

And thanks to the bolded, the same to you

At the end of the day, like most posters here, I want the team to reach the ultimate goal, which goes beyond criticizing (or needlessly boosting, in some cases) specific players, coaches, management etc. Some seem to want to see the team fail just to be proven right. That was far from the intent of this thread, and I hope I continue to look foolish for making it.

Juggles lines like crazy.

Puts McDrai together constantly.

He's not different than the last 3 coaches.

He needs to be fired

love Knob, best coach we've had since forever

Lol.

Line juggles like crazy. Plays McDrai constantly. Stole previous coaches playing McDrai after pk. Never reprimanded Bouchard, constantly rewarded him.
Never played the young guys. Played Skinner too much. Played other Skinner too little.

Oh, and did I mention line juggling. Just 2 months ago the line juggling was called desperation and being compared to Woodcroft.

This board moves more goalposts than Vegas did this series

Wrong to the bolded. Woodcroft was fired because he failed to make adjustment during the playoffs and then ultimately sealed his fate with a poor start the next season. Knob has shown the willingness to make changes, and so far, mostly the correct ones.

Kane and Frederic along with Klingbergs resurgence and Walman have totally changed the makeup of the roster giving KK a lot more to work with. Being relatively healthy hasn’t hurt either. Skinner channeling Hasek starting in Games 4-7 after being Joey Streethockey is the damndest thing I’ve ever seen.

But the Midas touch that seemed to have eluded him this season is most definitely back.

That said every poster here has learned to like the taste of crow at one time or another. But I must say if we win a cup this year crow will be on many a menu.

People have shit on Garlic for being passive and reserved behind the bench and not yelling at the refs, firing guys up but honestly a calm presence back there is just what a team prone to big swings needs and it looks like it's rubbing off on the boys at the right time.

i think any coach that adjusts to what the other team does and tweeks his line up/breakout/coverage/matchups should be fired, especially when he wins way more than he loses in the playoffs. we need new blood

its called in game adjustments. Maybe Vegas shouldve made more of those.

stealing good from other coaches and changing what isnt working makes you a smart coach.

Check his regular season and playoffs records and re-think fire Knob idea.

Knobloch is the best NHL coach this year. And has been the best Oilers coach in the past 30 years.

And doing all of that without the "goalie bump" that some coaches enjoy.

Certainly a thread of all time.

I'm too young for Slats but Knoblach is pretty easily the best coach the Oilers have had in my lifetime.
I am not too young. Slats was unbelievably smart, intuitive, a great motivator and evaluator......with panache. :)

This guy Knobs....he's pretty good too. ;)

One point, is we have had other good coaches, but the lineup was super stinky when we had them.

This has got to be trolling.... you watch the games? Puts in Kapanen - scores the OT winner. Line matches Draisaitl and Eichel - Eichel doesn't score a single goal.

What woodcroft/tippett team could beat VGK on the road three times? What woodcroft/tippett team could PLAY DEFENCE??

This is moronic stuff
