Fire Knoblauch

Ricky T is a one trick pony. Work harder. That’s it. No thanks. Knobs is so under appreciated here. Everybody just wants a mouth breather that shows ‘emotion’ and wins jack shit.
I agree.
I dont agree with everything Knoblauch does but the amount of vitriol in here is way over the top.
He isnt an idiot and when the games count he makes the right decisions more often than not.

He continues to outcoach opposing coaches as we are seeing in the current LA series.

So, did Knobby suddenly get smart again?;)

All I wanted him to do was start pickard and it finally happened and he seems to be the starter moving forward. Now if they win and he goes back to that plug against likely Vegas I swear….

This was always silly. Said in the GDT people were asking what adjustments there would be in series after game 2. The differences have been incredible. This is a well coached club and the gameplan is topnotch provided theres adherence to it. But the schemes work.

Also people complaining about Oilers not going to the net? Sure they are, in droves. Helped to get Kaner back in that regard but the team is rolling up its sleeves and getting into areas.

Going to and staying with Pickard as well has been positive. Woody would not have done this. He would have had his favorite in net again come hell or high water or elimination.

Knobby finally telling the team to play tough and hit somebody. Oh wait.....Evander Kane finally cleared to play a few games ago.;)
Yeah. Having Kane in and having Pickard in net changes a lot on its own. Like Hyman said having Pickard back there is knowing that we can play our game and bad things won't happen back there out of the blue.

Frederic is showing 200ft play, not really hitting as much but he's been able to handle minutes now.

The major takeaway now that the team is settled is how impeccable the defending has been and how dominant. All the D played well within a damn good zone out scheme and puck possession scheme. Oilers weren't permitting LA to have the puck in their own rink. A road game doesn't get better than this execution.

Sure, I never said we are smarter than the coach. What I am saying is he finally has kept some lines together and we look amazing. The whole year he's one of the only coaches that constantly had the lines in the blender and it's totally fair to criticize that. Are we not allowed to comment or have an opinion on how he does business? It's a chat board.

Of course you can comment on whatever you want, never said otherwise. But every comment is open to a rebuttal, that’s the beauty of a message board. And there are many coaches who move players around to find the optimum performance, it’s not just done here.

I'm just saying one of Knobs biggest faults was constantly juggling lines. Nothing has seemed to work until the past two games.

He will continue to constantly juggle lines if\when we stop winning.
We didnt stat to win when we stopped juggling lines. It was the other way around.

There is no need to change things when we you are winning.

The lines still dont look right with Janmark getting to take key faceoffs. The wing spot on McDrai line will be a revolving door because no one else can keep up the duo.

just let it go and enjoy good hockey and great yet bland looking coaching.

If nothing has seemed to work, isn't that why you would juggle lines until they do work? It's an ongoing chess game with lines. Players get hurt, the chemistry that was once there with linemates gets stale, so you try new things, etc. I recall back in the day when lines were basically set and there was never much movement, but with all the advanced stats, etc that are available nowadays, it seems that every coach fiddles with the lines more on a game by game basis, to get ideal matchups, etc. Doesn't really bother me, whatever it takes to eventually win.

loved the troll job by Knob during morning practice yesterday with the lines.

maybe that factored into rattling LA and their game plan to start the game.

With the big changes in personnel this season and then guys getting added at the trade deadline, a group underperforming, and finally all the injuries, I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt with the constantly changing lines

I guess what else is frustrating and this isn't so much on Knobs is that JJ completely screwed the team up to the point where we somehow had worse winger options for Leon.

I think we've learned we probably win a cup last year if Leon and or Kane were healthy.

And I think we've learned if JJ didn't have an F offseason we probably win this year. (not saying we still can't)

People calling for knobs head... no pun intended, dont watch hockey much man. Hd is a really good coach. He might not be as animated as some other coaches , but he can read a room pretty easy. He should have had a chat with the refs regarding Byfields hand on the puck in the crease.

Tocchet isn’t an upgrade on knob

I wasn't very clear. I don't think he is either. My post was in response to suggestions they go after Tocchet. I meant that I don't want them to go for him, but to consider a coach that is an actual upgrade.

this thread is so unnecessary

A season in which Stu Skinner was given every single opportunity (and beyond), and in which every single forward underperformed aside from Leon, regression of special teams, a soft and lost looking team...followed by two abysmal losses in the first round in a series that was looking headed to a sweep. The context matters.

This team should have won the division

Would absolutely love Jon Cooper but he isn’t available…yet. Tocchet absolutely isn’t the right fit. I think Knob is fine for now but I wonder if he could ever get max potential out of this group. Need someone that can motivate the team leaders and bring in a system for sustainable success. Cooper might be the closest but then again TBL just got bounced lol.

When we were down 2-0 and looking to be out round 1 he was getting heat. 3 games later he is getting praise. Next week who knows what the opinion will be. The bottom line is we have 2 of the best players in the league. McDavid is an all time great, the pressure is on him and the organization to win a cup. You have to keep asking if Knob is the coach to get the team and McDavid to the cup. It’s a very reasonable question, if at some point you don’t think he is you have to move on. If they lose the next 2 games do you consider moving on?

The bar is set at a cup, less is not acceptable. At times I like Knob, other times he drives me nuts. If someone like Cooper becomes available if a cup has not yet been won you have to do it. I think of the Blackhawks getting to the conference finals in 09 then firing Savard for Quenneville.
