Finnish roster in a best-on-best an absolute favorite together with the US and Canada?

If it is best on best, nobody but Canada has won in twenty years and nobody has won anything in about ten because there hasn’t been any
Czechs in 2005... lockout Worlds. If Canuck fans can brag about their amazing junior team due to that lockout then I can brag about the World's where everyone was available because of the lockout.

your point stands though.

Here are the best on best Olympic results. Most medals was Finland... they medalled in 4 out of 5.

5 Olympics and 15 medals:

1. Canada got 3 golds
2. Sweden got a gold and a silver
3. Czechs got a gold and a bronze
4. Finns got 3 bronzes and a silver
5. US got 2 silvers
6. Russia got 1 silver and 1 bronze

No one else medalled

It could be argued Finland was second best with 4 medals in 5 tourneys. No one can touch that. I gave the gold a much higher weighting and only 3 nations got that. Obviously, that is my interpretation of those 5 Olympics and yours may vary.

And, again, Finland could definitely win a Gold in 2026. Zero doubt in my mind.

Russia was the last team to beat Canada best team in the Olympics, for what it’s worth

5 Olympics
1. Finland with 4 medals
2. Canada with 3 medals
3. Czechs, Swedes, US and Russia with 2 medals

And this is why I don't give a shit about everyone's paper rosters.lol It's close, it's always been close and it will be close in 2026.

Was that one of the Czech teams where Hasek won it for them?
now you're just trying to piss me off.lol Well played. Surprised you didn't ask if Hadamczak was the coach?

FTR.. Canada would've won it but it was on the big ice.

I think rink size is far more important than most people admit. roster selection shouldn't be the same depending on it imo

Nope. Sweden has almost 200 NHL regulars. Finland has like what 15?
Finland can compete for bronze medal.

While Sweden is a lock to Gold medal game.

Granlund. Swedish name.
Barkov. A Russian.
Puljujärvi born in Sweden ...

You are actually showing how silly you are. That's not how the games will be played isn't it? Also, when you put Heiskanen on your third pair and Aho behind E.EK? Lol! Barkov behind Pettersson isn't sure either. I would pick both Aho and Barkov before Pettersson but that's rather subjective. I rather pick Hintz than Forsberg too. Also, I'd pick Jalonen before a swedish coach. And... I have a strong feeling UPL is the best goalie from Sweden and Finland right now. If you've watched how lousy the Sabres has been in defense this year you would never believe UPL was able to bring good stats and those SO.

"
Luukkonen started a career-high 54 games for Buffalo and tied for fifth in the NHL with five shutouts and ninth among qualified goaltenders with a 2.57 goals-against average. His .910 save percentage ranked ninth among goaltenders with at least 50 games played.

His goals-against average was the lowest by a Sabres goaltender with at least 50 games played since Ryan Miller – another name Ruff is familiar with – in 2011-12. His 27 wins and five shutouts were also the most for a Sabres goaltender in a single season since Miller."
Actually I forgot about Zibanejad so this is how it really goes:

Sweden with Finns:
Forsberg - Pettersson - Rantanen
Bratt - Barkov - Nylander
Eriksson Ek - Aho - Raymond
Karlsson - Zibanejad - Kempe

Hedman - Karlsson
Brodin - Dahlin
Heiskanen - Lindholm

Maybe just Barkov would fit into best-on-best Swedish team.

Just like maybe 1 Slovak would fit into best-on-best Czech team
