What the hell was that last call for Ohtamaa, he was clearly hurt even if by his own stick so how come the diving call? The German penalty was also debatable, but Ohtamaa's penalty didn't have any merit whatsoever.

Not at all a convincing victory for Finland but lucky. Against Canada they will have to improve their game. This performance won’t be good enough against Canada.
Sorry for the Finns, though I also cheer for Finland but Germany had deserved the win they were better.

Grats Finland, the more efficient team between two that live and die by that.

No need to hand their heads for our guys. This is a better and more sustainable team than the one from 11 years ago. Still a legitimate medal chance tomorrow too.

Germany deserves better...but that's the way it goes...you have to bury one of your chances...Suomi were killer with their first two shots.
Go for bronze...congrats suomi but that dive at the end was a shame...reminds me of football/soccer.

Määtta saved the match when he blocked the pass for Eisenschmid in front of an empty goal. I wanted Overtime.

I don’t have hard numbers, but Germany definitely had more good scoring chances. It was a bad goal from the opposing goalie and some puck luck and overall great goaltending from Olkinuora that won the game.

Both Finnish goals were both bad German mistakes, one by Niederberger and the other by Reichel. Enough to win the game.

Culture of winning. Finland has it, Germany does not. The only reason Finland won.

Huge props to Germany. They are a serious contender, at the very least in tournaments focused on European players. It seemed to me like Germany was the more skilled and dangerous team for most of the game, a small exception being a part of the second period. The development of national team hockey in Germany and also Switzerland is really nice to see.

I have never in my life seen a team get this far in the WC's more undeservingly, i would have rather seen Germany win this tbh, only way for me to be satisfied is if they pull a gold medal out their rectums tomorrow but i don't think that will happen, GG Germany you played your hearts out, untill next time.

Congrats Finland!
Germany's played really well, just couldn't tie it for some OT. Nothing to be mad about, the boys worked hard in every game, reaching the semis is already a big accomplishment.
One of the best national teams I remember (and I've seen some dreadful 90's & 2000's shit hockey), things are looking good and there's a "Trostpflaster" - game for 3rd place against the US.

Now off for some cooking before cheering for the Cans to tie it against Tampa. :snide:

The Fins also had some pretty good breaks and could have scored one more, so I don't think it is fair to call it a lucky win. They had the better nerves and were more efficent, that for me is also part of being a good team.

Let's cry, we are in the final again :( Hockey is all about winning, how tf Germany deserved to win if they can't score to save their life? Finland did the necessary and have the best goalie in the tournament (newsflash, goalie is pretty big part of the team).

Finland plays brutal hockey with our 5th tier players, we don't even have our best players playing in Europe. Jalonen knows what it takes to win and we're in the final again.

Finland who were unimpressive get a masterpiece from their goalie and win to proceed.

Who didn't see this coming?

It's a bit unfair to call it luck when the whole strategy is to win through defense. This Finnish team is definitely lacking in offensive talent, lacking in overall talent, but the system and the players' commitment to it makes up for it. Which is the point. It's still a bit strange to see them be THIS weak, but at the same time it's not like the players have the freedom to play a different style of hockey - the players are specifically selected for their commitment to play this style of hockey. Boring? Ugly? Maybe so, but very effective.
