Huh? Mikko is on a week long military exercise? Wasnt he supposed to go on tour with the trophy on Friday?

Got to appreciate this guy. He could have easily got papers from doctors that would have released from doing the military service just as Olli Jokinen and Hanno Möttölä (former NBA player from Atlanta Hawks) did.
Of course it is a lot easier for sportsmen and more like a scoutscamp with assault rifles and Koivu has nothing to worry about getting a contract etc., but still it is good that he shows example of a true captain inside and outside of the rink.

Koivu and Granlund in the army is the purest form of propaganda there is. Both the players and the armed forces get the benefits from the media hype.
Massive amount of respect goes for a world class athlete who chooses civil service over this nonsense! (Never gonna happen bc of the 12 months, I know)

Greater respect for the athletes who just get the "C" class-papers rather than civilian service.Why?
(I don't mean there's anything wrong with an athlete, or anyone with better things to do, getting C-papers, but It'd be huge blow againt the army propaganda if a top class footballer or hockey player would choose civil service).

What's the purpose of Mikko Koivu and Mikael Granlund to show up with a gun and a bunch of reporters at the barrack for few days? Other than propaganda?

So, you would be more content with guys like Jokinen etc. who just refused to go there with a cheap excuse? And as you said, civil service is not an option for a pro athlete. It's not Mikko's fault he is being used as a propagada tool. He is just serving his duty.
