when was the last time a defenseman lead the habs in points.

overall, even though it was an odd season for many, many teams, seeing people like diaz and markov with 50 points makes me smile like im at a strip club

We're a bottom heavy club with plenty of exciting, playmaking defensemen but a lack of game-breaker forwards -- at the moment -- so the scoring is pretty evenly spread out amongst them. That will change soon as Max will continue to get even better (he's almost there), along with Eller and the Gally kids. The future is bright.

8 50 pts guys including 3 defensemen is crazy.

7 20 goals scorers is pretty cool too.

But not really a go-to-guy offensively (yet).

Anyone else really hope Bourque plays a healthy 82 next year? He's way better than that 40 point clip, I want to see him play a season in beast mode like he was this year

One thing I found very interesting:

In the whole league, there's only 140 players with 25 points or more this year (not projected to 82 games). For an average of 4.67 players per team.

Habs have 10 players with 25 points or more. They have a lot of scoring depth and this could make them dangerous in the playoffs.

The season that could have been

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy with our season, but think of what might have been had we not had that one bad stretch....

Price's chance at a Vezina went down the crapper - G.A went up, Save Per. ruined
We could have won the conference
Subban and Markov would have had even more points
Therrien's chances of a Jack Adams went way down
Our PK was totally ruined and we dropped like 10-12 spots (I think we got as high as 12th)

All this because we went 2-7 instead of 7-2 or even 6-3. Not all of this means a lot, I know, but it would have been nice.

that long losing streak happened just after Emelin injury: Coincidence or not??? Is Emelin that important in Habs defense system???

Well next year our D will need to get bigger!

PK--- Gorges
Emelin---Markov (last year and limited minutes)
Diaz---Tinordi
Boullion
We need a 6-4 220lbs Dman with a mean streak more than bullion

Beauleu, Pateryn, Ellis coming up
Bennett, Dietz, Thrower on the horizon

None are huge hulking Dmen

Well Tinordi is pretty damn huge. Also, what's your definition of huge? Beaulieu, Pateryn and Ellis are all 6 foot 2 or 6 foot 3, and Dietz and Thrower while not being as big, are both tough as nails and are not afraid to hit and fight. We have a lot of different options coming up on defence in the next few years.

I want to split Emelin-Markov so that Emelin plays on his natural side (for maximum hitting power!)

So I'd go with :

Emelin--Subban
Markov--Gorges
Tinordi--Diaz

Price NEVER had a chance at the vezina before that stretch.

The GMs voted him the favourite in the east 10 games ago. GMs are the one who vote for the award at the end of the season. Glad you know what you're talking about.

One thing we should also keep in mind is that 13 of Eller's 30 points came into his last 12 games. So there's a huge possibility that he would have ended a 82 games season with more than 53 points.

I'm so glad he finally figured it out!

It would be a pretty cool if we could get Brayden Coburn from the flyers for Georges. 6"5 220 pounds is pretty much the size we need.

Coaches voted for him actually, but yea I'd trust their opinion more than random HF posters.

Coaches don't watch games other than their own teams so their opinion is invalid. I think HF > coaches. Coaches are overrated.
