Strangely, still a better take then most of what our local media has to say when it comes to goaltending.

Save% and GAA is the new plus/minus. People use it outta context and think they've identified the problem.

Game 4 Stu made 1 highlight real save. The Oilers should've responded to that but they kept figure skating. He also made two other really clutch saves... again the team looked abysmal.

In come Picks. He made some great saves no doubt....however, he was also beat 3 times extremely badly.
The CC to Bennet which he didn't even move on. Kulak made the save.
Another CC that a Panther flubbed.
And a wide open net that Ekholm saved.

I surely didn't see those blocked shots and desperation in the first period.

Meanwhile our fans are jerking off Bobrovsky save% yet he got owned that game and was bobbling and misplaying pucks all last game...including shots from center.

Yup. This is why I’ve been incessantly mad and posting about his 29’s failures in this series. I’ve been hard on him because my eye test showed me he hasn’t generated ANYTHING.

I was attacked because he had a three point night and two OT goals. Props to him for that but as this chart shows, he has done essentially nothing to generate scoring chances.

This is a guy who is supposed to be our top playmaker out there. People claim he has the best backhand pass in the league.

He hasn’t generated a scoring opportunity himself in 5 games.

Another playoff goalie controversy, but this time for game six of the stanley cup finals because the Oilers thought redoing a failed cup run with two backups with a good idea. What a disaster.

Still holding out hope that the Oilers can run the gauntlet and pull out two more wins, but regardless of what happens they need to make a change this offseason and finally upgrade the position.

Lots of things to be negative about. Like, in the past SIX Finals' games vs. Florida, the Oilers haven't won a single game in regulation.

On the other hand, it's also true that the Oil are 5 and 4 vs. Florida in the past nine Finals' games.

I don't know... I think they are really missing Hyman's contribution. And Nurse's general play continues to be a problem... twelve years later.

But some kind of new / different approach is needed in game six.

My view is the dog shit starts aren't a whole lot different than what we've generally been used to here over the last 5 years at least. Only difference is this opponent makes you pay for it unlike any others.

There is likely internal confusion how they can't just win after feeling their way into the game anymore.

The first periods have been hurtful. That said, Edmonton has had a few decent decent first periods in terms of the flow of play, but end up on the wrong side of the score because of dumb high sticking penalties. I'd even argue the blow out in Game 3, Edmonton was good in the first except the penalties.

Now they finally cleaned up the penalties on Saturday, but played like shit instead.

Would be nice to see them finally put it all together and earn a one or two goal lead as they haven't really had a chance to play with a lead very much.

So what if KK is being outcoached. This isn't marbles. People can hate him all they want but Paul Maurice is making strong argument he's the best coach in hockey and with tons of experience and years of SC final experience. KK is a young sophomore coach. He isn't supposed to be better than the best. If he was the whole NHL stack of coaches wouldn't be very much.

Nobody is perfect and gonna check all the boxes for everybody. But Oilers fans, really, this is the best coach that 90% of you have seen with the Oilers.

Yeah he's gonna make some errors, be outcoached. I don't know even the point of stressing it. he's pretty damn good. We would never find better. Not this org.

Thing is if we swapped head coaches I’m not sure the result would be any different. To me they just have a better roster and more experience at this winning a cup thing . It doesn’t mean we can’t win, it’s hockey and shit happens. I started these playoffs thinking Knoblauch might not be the guy and if they went out against LA I could see a change made. It’s pretty hard to argue what this team was when he took over last year and how has lead the team to 2 cup finals. I think we beat any other team in the finals but this Florida team, just running up against a buzz saw. Not over, win tomorrow somehow and anything can happen in one game.

It’s really quite dumbfounding as this like goaltending and Defensive mis cues, have been a constant issue for decades. It seems completely engrained in the organizations DNA. How to stop it? We’ve had many many many different coaches and players attempt to do it haven’t we? I think the Organization is just a baffled as the fans on that one.

Exactly. When Nogoalzin and Krapinen are your wingers, your success as a playmaker will always be limited. I'd love to see MacKinnon's numbers with fourth-line/borderline NHL wingers.

Also odd to dunk on the player that currently leads the Oilers in points while many are MIA. But HFOil will HFOil.
