Pre-Game Talk: Final Game 5. Who starts? Obvious Pole question.

Neither Jackson, Bowman nor Knoblach were involved with the Oilers when this happened. They are not tied to that event. Whatever the obsession is with Skinner by current management it has nothing to do with not selecting Wallstedt.

They're not tied to the event no but I would imagine there is all around organization pressure to make it work with this guy after spending 5+ years of development and passing up on an A grade goaltender in the draft.

I'm in town until the day after the potential game 7. Starting to think it might be a good idea to secure some tickets for game 7 in advance...

For those with experience - did prices for game 6 last year drop closer to game day, or would it be wise to try and grab what I can now before game 7 becomes official??

What's the best (and most secure) platform to buy tickets from? (Ticketmaster? FansFirst? something else?)

I bought Game 1 and 2 tickets via FanFirst. Highly recommend for price, service, and to stick a finger in Ticketmaster's eye for gouging on first run and double dipping with aftermarket fees. I didn't receive my Game 2 ticket confirmation before catching my flight, so I texted their contact number, and the issue was resolved quickly. They had to replace my ticket due to a mistake with the seller. But I wound up saving about a $150 on a similar ticket with a price dip about 4 days after original purchase.

I've got Edmonton kin who said watching prices on the secondary markets that if you can gamble on waiting out just before game time that good deals can be had. Coming from out of town, I wanted to have secured tickets in hand.

THIS. Skinner got his shutouts when the team played tight. They are capable of this against Florida and have to focus on making plays out of their zone, tight checking versus getting grossly outshot and giving Florida grade A chances. Heck Bob wouldn't do well in the Oiler net either.

Genuinely concerned about this next game. If we play like we did last game, we will likely lose, as I expect Florida will ramp it up. Worried about the wear and tear on 5 dmen taking lots of minutes, when we have a competent 6th dman getting sat after he takes a stick to the face with no call, causing an unfortunate goal. Had been playing a nice, solid, low event game up to that point. OT heroics aside, we're going to need McDrai show up for this one. And for gods sakes, Knob, please don't put them out there in the last few seconds if we are fortunate enough again to be in a position with the lead.

My question is why didn't the team start the first period in game 4 the way they did the second period? And if your answer is just "Lol Skinner" then that's just not good enough.

The problem with your line of thinking is that Skinner is the only player solely responsible no matter what happens. That Skinner is responsible for every single loss the Oilers have (and conversely barely responsible when they win), and then even when you do give him credit it's always some backhanded compliment (Vegas/Dallas just aren't good teams or whatever such nonsense).

Bob was awful in this game and I'm not sure why you're not bringing that up.

I'm not sure. My guess is FansFirst have the tickets in hand to distribute immediately. My tix both were from Oiler season ticket holders so there's like a lag for FansFirst to connect with them and finalize sale/secure the tickets which then get passed on to the buyer. My e-tickets both came through the Oilers ticket portal where I had to access their secured team site and move to my digital wallet.

I've bought a few times through FansFirst so can only offer they have been great to deal with.

@ManOfSteelI mentioned a good experience with a Facebook group. I'm personally want more security around that but maybe its similar with ticket exchange also via the Oilers ticket portal.

Definitely buy in advance yep.

I imagine if it gets to game 7, tickets will be north of $3500+ a piece to get in the building.

I am kind of using that benchmark because last year I sold some upper bowls to game 6 for $4000~ for the pair, and the Oilers couldn't have even won the cup that game.

No need to just select instant delivery tickets. The ones that are not instant delivery, you will wait for the seller to transfer the tickets to you after the purchase.
I have purchased game 2 and game 5 tickets off fan first this year, and games 3 and 4 from last year, none of them were Instant Delivery tickets, and each time I got the tickets transferred within less than 3-4 hours after purchase.
They are legit.

ticket buyers from all across NA will be potentially selling. Not all of them will be Canadian.

Yea that won’t impact buying from Fanfirst, they have tickets offered by sellers all across the world. But their pricing is in CAD, and they don’t double dip in service charges like the other US based sites.
If there was a similar site like Fanfirst for US based games, i would use that too. It was insane buying tickets from SeatGeek/Stubhub and paying over $300 in fees.
