Assuming Stetcher and JSkinner come in, who comes out?

Moral of the story: don't take anything for granted. Due your due diligence and plan to cover optional skates. I get that the Oilers apparently didn't declare their time for the optional but sports reporting is largely a lazy, entitlement function with everything spoon fed by team and league support functions. A team off day doesn't or shouldn't translate into a paid media holiday.

The content produced is largely puffery and cliche driven stuff. Which further adds to bizarre spleen venting.

They have an inflated view of themselves, a lot of it comes out listening to Rishaug. Conjecture about “Oiler fan” and droning on about how he “turned in his fan card” when he became a “journalist,” talking about SCF teams as if he has some sort of inside knowledge as a result of “covering” so many of them, etc.

The odd time they don’t get what they want from a team or player they act like they’re covering the President of the United States and they nuked the days’ press availability. They ask players canned questions that nobody cares about to hockey players. Whoop de do.

This kind of smells like an ass covering exercise when the bosses ask why they were on the 8th hole instead of practice.

These guys are just papering things for their own benefit with their employers who are paying them to be working in FLA.
Poor babies eh? Media sure complain a lot of the priveleged lives they have. Imagine getting a paid gig to write about the Oilers when sites like this have thousands of volunteers who do it for nothing.

I'd rather read 50 posters here than what the MSM is saying about the Oilers.

Good move by the team getting the players away from the idiot scribes for a day.

I know the reason for the 2 days off between games (NBA) but it's f***ing killing me.
Rest easier. For the life of me I can't think either McD or Drai are going to spend another game in Florida watching Bennett and Marchand be the highlight reels. Something in me thinks McDrai are going to pop off a statement game.

Everything we've seen about this team is they bounce back and then some.

I seriously wouldn't even know about any of this going on without reading up here. Nor would I care. I take a break on days off. Recommend it.
You're a better man than me. I spend the days off anxiously thinking about the worst possible scenarios for the Panthers on the ice and imagining them coming true. This media squawking though, is pathetic and not worth anyone's time.

Hell ya. Love all of this. And I agree. Firmly feel those 2 are not to be denied this year.

McD today: I feel we haven't been our best yet in this series but Its coming.

Its coming.

I always like when he and Drai say that sort of thing.

Dennis King is another interesting follow on Twitter- he pointed out that the difference in this series is special teams, and specifically special teams goaltending. Oilers have 3 goals on 13 high danger chances on their PP. Florida? 4 goals on just 6 high danger chances. Didn't love the OT winner from Stu in game 2, but I was willing to look past it. However, that 3-1 goal right after the Oilers made it 2-1 basically ended any chance of a comeback. The team is banged up, but have largely kept up with Florida at even strength. I'm sure the PP will get going. Stu needs to get back to the simple game he was playing vs Dallas. Florida can play aggressive because they know that even when that leads to chances against or a PK, Bob has them. Oilers, right now, can't say the same.

Not defending Stu. He played poorly. But to say that goal destroyed any chance of a comeback is ludacriss.

The Oilers had absolutely nothing going on at 5v5.... and.....did you see our PP? It was an absolute joke. It was soooooo bad that Knob had to change personnel. The only reason we scored is cuz Bouchard had to make an exceptional play. Leon and McD were invisible.

So let's be honest....where was this miraculous comeback gonna come from?

That game was a loss from puck drop. They outplayed us 5v5 ad on special teams

Lol the media is just having their PP's whipped because they're employers paid for them to be in Florida and was pissed they missed practice, and scrambling to not look like a total moron.

Like for Christ's sake, they have the easiest job in the world. Imagine the horror if they had to just sit through a practice with no actual skaters instead of sitting on the beach in Florida. The horror. I mean shit - there how f***ing many of them there - they could take shifts for Christs sake - have one of the 8 of them there and use a f***ing group chat. Why do we even have 8 of them?! What do they f***ing provide? They can't be asked to even go to the f***ing rink. 😂

Do your job, this is on no one but you, media.

To throw the drivel they threw out about the team back at them - This is your dream, to be covering the Stanley Cup finals, and you are just throwing it away so you can go to the beach? Frivolously filling your time to ask bullshit questions for the 5th time, revealing strategies and injuries to hurt the club, and go through the motions while the whole Internet produces more interesting content? Why did you work so hard at it just to choke it away when it mattered the most, media?

Bunch of entitled f***ing clowns.

Knobby confirmed 3 things in his interview

Stu didn't play well. Team played like ass. They lost that game despite Stu.

Not to sure why a few individuals are desperate to keep saying that pathetic team loss is entirely on 1 player.

Either you didn't watch the game, or you can't process what you witnessed, or you are plainly...that unimaginative.

To watch that game and only blame the goalie??? Says alot about lack of understanding of the sport tbh

Why do people talk about the Titanic and only ever mention the iceberg?

It's so bizarre; maintenance records show they had like 100 active tickets running, they literally didn't launch half their luxury features, and they missed the mark on ticket pricing.

Yet people only seem to talk about the iceberg, say it's the only reason they couldn't make money. Doesn't even make sense - there was thousands of things they could have done better - why are we even talking about the ice berg?! It just really shows people's lack of understanding of the business of large cruise ships.

I read somewhere they didn't even have their deck chairs arranged nicely.

I just saw the highlights of game three. The first goal against Stu was pretty bad, but I can't say any of the other four looked terrible. He was a bit below par, for sure, but the Oilers can't be giving up breakaways all the time in the Finals.

At the end of the day, if the club scores 1 goal in sixty minutes, it doesn't really matter whether the goalie was "pretty good" or "a bit below par". Either way, you lose. The Oilers need to score more. I'm not worried about one game on the road, but now we're at the point where game four is basically the season.

So, Stu has to bounce back and play his "above average" game, but the Oiler skaters need to score 3 or 4 (preferably more) goals.
