Endless bitching by the media today. I don’t think they honestly realize how repetitive and often just plain dumb and insulting their questions are to the players. There would have been no new information obtained from the players today that you couldn’t have found out yesterday. Glad that the Oilers avoided that circus today. But of course will likely get fined and reprimanded by the league.

Not that he can help the voice he was born with, but DNB sounds like he's always whining. So it tracks

Provide some actual "coverage" then, idiots. God forbid the fans miss out on questions so shallow with insight that it might as well be them asking the players their favourite colours.

Robbie Schremp's one sentence posts on Twitter have been more interesting than any article the "journalists" are putting out.

I'm confused about the "coverage" I'm missing out on here by Daniel Nugent Bowman going to the beach for the day.

My guess is they’re chomping at the bit to ask Connor McDavid if the Oilers can play defence and they’re annoyed they have to wait a day to do it.

Especially because Bob cheats the pass frequently. That’s how he ends up with those acrobatic cross ice saves. McDavid needs to keep him honest.
Everyone raves over mcdavids amazing assists and its entirely warranted. What we forget is how many times it doesn't pan out. Those are often times he could have got a shot on net. You can't score if you don't hit the net.

On any pp shots will only come from drai and Bouchard. This is why the pp is toothless. All respect for mcdavid has been lost as a shooter.

It's 5 games since he's scored a goal in the Stanley cup finals. No time to show up like the present.

These guys think they're curing cancer. Hockey at the end of the day is entertainment for that oncology nurse after a stressful day.

I don't think a rishaug or Gregor realize how irrelevant their stupid questions are to the players.

NHL Edge has some interesting deets on that. "After two game results, Marchand leads the Panthers with five high-danger shots on goal through the first two games of the Stanley Cup Final (no other Florida player has more than two high-danger shots on goal) and is tied with Oilers forwards Connor McDavid and Trent Frederic (five each) for the most in the series. While McDavid and Frederic have been unable to convert on any of their high-danger opportunities so far, all three of Marchand’s goals have come from high-danger areas, tied with Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl (three) for the most in the series." EDGE stats behind Marchand’s clutch goal-scoring for Panthers | NHL.com

Now Connor and Leon (and the whole team) had an abysmal Game Three with 2 and 0 shots respectively including 6:19 and 6:58 PP time. Game 3 was the outlier for both super elites. Imagine the Oilers having 33 shots on net and their super elites only 2 of them with over 20 minute toi each. Hard to see that happening again...

I missed 99% of game 2…didn’t realise they reffed that one. STR must not have updated their site correctly when I checked it the day of G3. If there was ever a case for AI referees in pro sports, it’s the NHL but since they’d be programmable computer systems, they’d be even easier to manipulate penalty calls.

Surprisingly, the Oilers are 3-3 with McCauley reffing their games and up until the start of last game, they had a -3 penalty differential. That’s now -11 in McCauley reffed games. He’s going for the green jacket. You can’t tell me the Panthers were that disciplined to have 3 power plays for the Oilers to their 11.
AI can’t even answer simple questions reliably so it would just be more of the same quality reffing.

Moral of the story: don't take anything for granted. Due your due diligence and plan to cover optional skates. I get that the Oilers apparently didn't declare their time for the optional but sports reporting is largely a lazy, entitlement function with everything spoon fed by team and league support functions. A team off day doesn't or shouldn't translate into a paid media holiday.

The content produced is largely puffery and cliche driven stuff. Which further adds to bizarre spleen venting.

Yup.

Sports reporters complaining that stories arent put on a tee by a clubs media relations personnel. Lazy media. Boo fakking whoo to them all. Do your jobs.

I hope they enjoyed their day at the beach and their editors rip them a new one for taking a paid vacation in FLA. As Yoda would say

DNB is the worst. Seems to think fans hang on his every word.

We will miss riveting questions like- "how do you put that game behind you?"

We will miss riveting questions like- "how do you put that game behind you?"

“How do you feel about losing in a blowout to Florida?”

“I dunno Daniel, what do you think?”

“I’m the media. I ask the questions!”

“Feels great Daniel….feels great”

“Jim told me you get pissy”

“f*** off”

I wonder if Rishaug is out there beating the ol' "we are owed answers no matter what" drum again.

These media guys are nuts.. there’s an extra day between games, you got to bother the team yesterday just f*** off for today, go to the beach or something. Or actually do some real analysis like Steve Peters on YouTube, he doesn’t need to ask players the same stupid questions, he doesn’t ask them any questions, he just knows hockey and provides fantastic analysis.

This reminds me of a moment on the GYB pod a few months ago. Rishaug was talking about people calling him an ambulance chaser and he throws his arms up and goes “JOURNALISM!” … you’re not a f***ing journalist you doofus. You are so lucky to have such an easy job with TSN, you don’t even show up for your own pod sometimes and your analysis is trash.

The team goes easy on some of these guys, I’m sure they’d love to snap back more but it just creates an unnecessary distraction and really isn’t worth it.

Anyway this was a smart move by Knob. Yesterday was a reset, they don’t need to dwell on last game for a moment longer. Media will just ask a bunch of questions that these guys don’t need to hear or think about anymore, they needed to move on and focus on the next game.

.
Increasingly he’s been playing the “I need to get to my hotel room, get to the airport, do my real job at TSN, polish my golf clubs in the simulator, get Randeen to give me a back rub” excuse and bowing out early/late of the pods and having Jason carry the load. Brownie is only a PT contributor so it becomes another zubie and Struddy show.

It’s actually off putting how often he pulls “I’m the boss” card. I wouldn’t be able to work for him. I’d punch him in the face. And then he’d be unable to host his show again.

I like that Dreger and Ferraro just grind him hard even though he’s their boss now on their pod. You can tell it’s not an act with them. There’s actual real disdain in their comments.

These outlets step on each other for content, no matter how bad it is. It's what pays their salaries.
