That’s the last thing he wants and he’s stated as such in various in season interviews. He doesn’t value physical play at all and even trotted out the Eakins quote of the perfect game being a no hitter with Rishaug I believe earlier this season. Edmonton was also the least physical team out of all 32 this season.

Skinner is the least defensively reliable / trusted F of the ones available to KK. That’s why he’s a healthy scratch.
The second half of the season Skinner had a lower xGA than… Draisaitl, Arvidsson, Perry, Henrique and McDavid.

We need more offense from our bottom 6 and we have 6 guys there right now who can all play fine defensively but have next to zero offensive ability. And if you wanna argue the rest have offensive ability fine, but he brings something the rest don’t. The ability to finish. He can finish better than anyone in the bottom 6 and the amount of time a bottom 6 guy was in a scoring spot that anyone with a modicum of finishing ability would score on is crazy. He brings something that the team doesn’t have. We have 6 defensive forwards in the bottom 6, we can handle one guy who is slightly less defensive but miles better offensively.

But coach hates him. It’s simple as that.

I’d swap out Brown for Skinner at this point. Try it for a game. Manage the ice time and matchups. If it’s a failed experiment go back to downtown Brown in game 4. Brown has been garbage so it’s worth trying something different.

It’s true. Shit we would have won gsme 2 with skinner in for Brown or Frederic. Both had a couple of scoring chances that would have won us the game but they couldn’t hit the broad side of the barn.

They had 6 PP’s to put the game away. The too many men was BS I agree but they still had 6 PP’s got a measly one goal and gave up a short handed go ahead goal that would have been the game winner if not for last minute heroics. Can’t sit here and say we needed more calls.
I’m not disputing that the power play was brutal and ultimately cost them the game — no argument there.

But let’s not pretend the missed too-many-men call is irrelevant just because the refs handed out a bunch of penalties in the first period. That’s part of the broader issue with how games are officiated.

You get 11 penalties in the first, 3 in the second, and by the third period it’s like the refs have decided their job is done. That kind of inconsistency is exactly the problem.

The standard shouldn’t fluctuate depending on the scoreboard or the period. If you’re going to call the game, call it according to the rulebook — all night long.

Don't do anything in the first period because it gets called. Midway through the second until the end of the game Florida clutches and interferes and not one single penalty.

We must, must, must win this series.

This is our chance we might not be this healthy next year
Agree. That's why it felt like a huge waste after trying the game with fifteen seconds left. Florida has some horseshoes.

Hopefully this is fuel for the Oilers.

This has Paul Maurice written all over it as well. He likely couldn't get the Jets to be dirt bag enough to win at all costs, so left.

There are no rules in OT other than "clearing the puck over the glass". Truthfully, there are essentially no penalties in the last part of the 3rd period in the playoffs either. There isn't a rule book in OT, its a single sentence on a single piece of paper. No other professional league does this. Imagine the NFL saying that in the last 10 minutes of the 4th quarter, that the only penalty was defensive offsides. Pass interference? Fine. Facemask? Perfectly fine, maybe even encouraged a bit. Holding? You know it, as much as possible in fact!

When you put in context of another sport, its the stupidest thing you've ever heard of right? So then why is it okay in the NHL?

Look at his numbers in that thread. Every single defenceman on the roster has way better metrics away from Nurse. Kulak especially.

f***ing scratch him.

Wtf. Literally crashing the team with no survivors type insanity.

The scary part is is by some chance they do win theyll stick with this monstrosity.

We’re not that healthy. Hyman gone, Brown apparently hampered, and now whatever the hell is going on with Nuge. Not to mention the rumored bug that’s running through the room. I was confident heading into this series, but once again it’s starting to look like we may be running out of gas and people.
