Money means different things to different people. Seems like he doesn't care about the money, he just wants to be in the NHL. So he takes a gamble and does a couple of 1 year league minimum deals to try to get his career back on track and make more money on the back end.
If that is the case... It's noble ....but stupid.

Could be or could be a good gamble. I don't know if he hit is bonuses or not on his ELC, but if he did he has made almost $6m. If no bonuses that is $3.5m. Do you know how long it would take the average person to make $3.5m? Most, never. Would take me a few decades and I have a decent salary. Could he retire now, heck no! But making a min of $3.5m by 23, he is set up rather nicely.

He's a hard working goal scorer that can't score goals. But he tries real hard.

I actually feel bad for him. He actually tries really hard but just can't get it done. Like its one thing to fault a player for being lazy and all but he works on the ice.

Guy can do everything decently except score goals. Just shoots in right into the pads or blocked by a stick 90% of the time. Very frustrating player to watch, happy he's gone tbh.

If I remember correctly he was a bit of a reach at 6th spot in the first place.

Boy I wanted the Habs to draft him instead of Kotkaniemi.

I’m not sure why he would have walked away from his contract in Detroit. He is walking away from a guaranteed 3.6 million over the next two years. Now he will probably scrounge to make one million this year. He is really banking on having a great season.

I think that NHL teams will be interested in Zadina because of his age and draft pedigree.

Guy scored on the same level as RNH a year ago. Too early to make decisions. He should get out of Detroit and try somewhere else.

Money clearly isn't everything for the kid. He's looking for a chance to prove he's an NHL player on a new team. Detroit couldn't trade him. No one claimed him on waivers, this was really his only shot at getting a new opportunity. Now he signs a 1 year prove it deal. I respect the kid for betting on himself. He'll do okay money wise in Europe if things don't pan out.

If he was smart he is taking a 1 year league min deal with a team like Toronto, Edmonton, etc where he can put up points with a skilled top end of the lineup and try to turn that into a deal with term the year after

Both those teams come with high expectations.

Leafs/Oilers are pretty crowded, doubt he'd get much PP consideration. Not like Yamamoto/Puljujarvi lit it up on Edmonton.

Alexander Barabanov carved out a niche on San Jose, but had to fight for ice time in Toronto. A team with some openings would make more sense for Zadina.

I can't wait to hear this one explained. 10g 24pts in 74 games for zadina, vs 50pts in 63 games for rnh.

Some p/60 nonsense I'm sure

2021 season. Excluding playoffs and special teams one had 14 points and the other had 13. I don't take special teams into consideration.

Now, you clearly follow my statements on here and you write down everything I say because you made the same comment about "60"s which btw has nothing to do with me. Maybe it's time to lay down a bit no and stop following me? I'm not that special.

Zadina to PHI would make sense for cheap. Under Torts he would become a player.
He is NHL caliber, but needs work.

Best fit by far is joining the Bruins and filling the void left behind from Bertuzzi and Hall. He could form a new Czech line

Zadina Zacha Pastrnak

If you are forgoing a contract that pays you 4.5 million, he must have a pretty strong inclination a team is willing to put him in a position to earn that back. He ain’t doing it for 4th line minutes or a PTO. I feel like it has to be a situation like this
