Needs a bit of time to figure it out in Laval

Maybe as a Hudon caliber only. He's small soft and winger. Montreal only took him because he was Slaf best friend.
Drafting a fast skilled winger that was starting to break out, from a nation on the upslope that had been rocking it internationally 27th over all was not a bad move; seems to be about where he was ranked.

Plekanec only made the nhl in 05-06 as a 23 year old if i’m counting right… Not comparing but who knows. He’d also be joining a mature team in 2-3 years if he gets better and makes the club.

Was he really starting to break out though? He'd pretty much stagnated statistically from his d-1 to his draft year, a trend which continued into the OHL.

He was an interesting bet on tools and probably a bad one in retrospect (granted I was shouting at the TV for Hutson and we got him anyway so that's fortunate. I think popular sentiment around here was a Kulich pick which would unfortunately be exactly what we need right now).

Pascal Vincent worked well with many of our prospects but he didn't seem to trust Mesar with ice time. Curious if another year of AHL is best for his development. Maybe Europe would be a better bet

There's no skill in calling prospects busts. Most of them bust. The skill is in calling the ones who do succeed and doing it at a high rate.

I could call every single player in this upcoming draft a bust and I will have a 90+ % hit rate.
But I didn't do that. I called him a bust.

I never got the pick to begin with and haven't cared for him since. Not surprised and didn't care so not a big loss. Took a swing, and missed!

Yes and its not the victory you think that it is.
I mention it only because when I saw him play for Kitchener on multiple occasions (10 games I think, because I follow the OHL closely), I said I was worried and in my opinion he wasn't worth of a late first.

I got killed on this board for not knowing the player.

It's not a science - it was my opinion.

I also like Liam Greentree over Michael Hage for the Habs pick last year. I could be right, but that's my opinion. I stand by that opinion.

If I ever have the time I would love to go back to the initial posts on him. At the draft and after his impressive camp.

There was enough hype about him that at least SOME of these posters who claimed they never liked the pick have to have flip flopped pretty hard.

I loved the pick and I dont see him making it on this roster. But the pick and the swing made total sense. Its what the board has been asking for but then it didnt work and I guess people dont like what happens when you whiff on a home run swing.

Mesar is currently lost in his mind, his high end skills are undeniable, he did very well for Slovakia U18 and was an assistant Captain thats why he was regarded as a top prospect.

In his first camp he was equally as good or better than Beck. Both looked to be like the 2 best prospects at the time, they were rated ahead of Hutson.

in kitchener he did not jell with the environment and the style. It is what it is.

The question here is, do we trust the habs in them telling us he’s the problem? Or is this again bad prospect management and development?

Has the organization said this though? You're really bending backwards trying to push this contrived narrative that doesn't exist.
