Prospect Info: Filip Mesar

You can just keep him as a PP specialist but yeah i dont see the point to try him now, risk an injury.

At least hes practicing with the best so this is a good sign for next year

Still think him playing in the next game while it's very physical would be beneficial for him, that's exactly where he needs to work, if he can't stand physical play to the utmost, he won't ever make it, NHL is even worse.

It just makes no sense
Scouting report on him was that his biggest flaw was his physical play, robustness and shying away from the physical game. Now, we don't want to add him because the game is physical. Yeah, makes no sense...lol

What will make sense is that our team will stay away from players like that in the future. And if they are going to make guesses, that will most likely not pan out but at one point you take chances, they will do it with picks further than the draw...not in the 1st round....

Just a complete waste of a pick really unfortunately
Wish they looked more for an RD at this spot, but that's hindsight obviously

Gorton is never drafting a 5"10 forward again I think lol
Size isn't an issue. What was an issue is is complete disinterest of the physical game and even shying away from it. THAT, you have to hope, we will stay away from. OR if you have to 'cause at one point, a player becomes BPA in the 5th round...draft him. And hope he suddenly is fine with a physical game. But geez, I wouldn't draft those guys in the first 3 rounds....

You dont need to be physical when you always have the puck and make plays to score goals

Nobody always has the puck. Geez, reading you, you'd think we,re talking about a top 10 pick....the guy wasn't chosen 26 because he was a star player...

It's really insane that we have that debate right now. Some are actually PROMOTING NOT to use a kid 'cause it might be too hard for him. For the sake of....development? Kid is 21. Not 18.

Ok so you're judging players based on where they were drafted then? Not their actual talents.

strange

You don't seem to understand why Mesar was drafted in the first round

No idea where this is going. So....if he has talent. And if his talent was worth a 1st round pick, you actually don't need those guys to help you score in a losing series?

We were talking about physicality or lack thereof. Kid has skills and use them adequately is bigger ice surface. Despite the number points, we saw first hand the challenges he would have to face playing for Kitchener. And it showed in the AHL as well. If you guys want him to develop under safe circumstances, well send him back to Europe....still wondering how it would help to see him become NHL prospect...

You kee praising the hell out of the guy....but nope...don't use him in a losing series?

As long as nobody criticizes him (Mesar), use harsh words, shove him, hit him, doesn't try to pry the puck out of him, heck even look at him, he's a great player I guess.

But yeah, that's exactly what he needs to go through if he wants to make it.

And the Checkers actually for the entire roster that played last game, have 2 huge guys on D. And 2 huge guys up front. Everybody else is from 5'9'' to 6'1.

What they do though is constant in your face type of hockey. With not the biggeset bodies but solid ones. Which again brings the question....if Mesar cannot be subject to that.....what will he be able to do as a NHL prospect later on? And again, everyboyd is almost sane....we know he hasn't played much...nobody expects him to change the offense....and anyway, the games aren't at home so no pressure. So put him in the 4th line. Play him on the 1st PP. And hope he taked of the remainding 2 games....to built for next year.

A lot said the same thing about Hutson, that he will get crushed in a physical game, doesn't even slow him down.

One was picked 62. The other 26. But my point wasn't even about that. Contrary to Mesar, nobody in Habsland was afraid for Hutson and how he handled the physical game. Pretty sure the kid played in the NHL this year. And was used. A lot. Including against tougher teams.

The point HERE is that some don't want to use Mesar against the Checkers 'cause it's hitting a lot.

Oh and if we really compare both players.....here's the difference....it was a fact that Mesar wasn't a fan of the physical game. Hutson had no problems being hit and going where it hurts the most. The critics were how THEY thought he'd adapt in the NHL. Nobody had ever had a scouting report on Hutson about how he was afraid of the physical play in his draft year.

.....and when you don't have the puck and are not creating offence, which in his case is the vast majority of the time?

Soft players are worthless garbage and even if they put up points in the regular season, they disappear in the only games that actually matter and even worse, their regular season output often leads to earning a high salary that could have been used on a player or players who could have made a difference in the playoffs.

Point per game soft forwards playing for playoff teams carry negative value especially when they are getting paid like a difference maker.

Didn't take Lane long to make the most of his oppertunities, Mesar has chit the bed with his many opportunities. He has shown zero indication that he can be a difference maker.
