Waste of a first round pick. Almost gave me heart attack when they passed on Hutson and took Mesar.

I am almost positive that if they did not select Mesar the other player in consideration was Owen Beck.

If Hughes has any chance to trade Mesar away, he should do it while Mesar still has value (just because he's a 1st rounder). If someone offers a 3rd pick or better, we should do it.

The Slaf/friend narrative is utter nonsense made by fans connecting dots that are not there. Mesar was considered to be one of the faster players in the draft and they were very clear in their comments about targeting a player that they felt could push the pace and entirely dismissed the simpleton narrative of having played with Slaf being a factor in their decision.

If Hughes has any chance to trade Mesar away, he should do it while Mesar still has value (just because he's a 1st rounder). If someone offers a 3rd pick or better, we should do it.

Hughes job is probabilistic, the only way for him to never make any bad decisions is if he never makes any decisions at all (which is itself a decision).

So don't get angry about results, focus on process.
