Yes but clearly Mesar was the start of the research point in which every drafted OHL forward from 1990-present was compared to. Someone having a similar season to him, in a worse situation mind you, doesn't mean his isn't among the worst. There's not a lot of Europeans drafted in the first round who moved to the OHL in their D+1 and most of the ones who did were more successful than Mesar. It's a niche scenario because most first round talents don't move to the OHL in their D+1; they're either already there or good enough to play in a European men's league.
But just to illustrate the point.
Stefan Ruzicka had a better D+1 after doing the same thing as Mesar, never became a full time NHLer.
Burakovsky wrecked the OHL after moving there in his D+1, became a marginal middle six winger.
There's very few examples to go on but it might add 5-6 players in total. From 2002-2019 those are the only two directly comparable players.
Sure. But Sale had a worse D1 in the OHL than Mesar. Both were first round picks from Europe who struggle in their NA transition to the OHL.
Your initial post seemed to suggest Mesar was some outlier that factually is not the case.
Also, Mesar has a better AHL ppg than Sale this season, so not sure how you landed on the notion that Sale has been better this year? I don't watch Coachella, so perhaps you've seen him play and his 200ft game has miraculously improved
