He's more offensively oriented but less defenseSportsnet compared him to Plekenec.
Need to take into consideration it’s a piss poor draft cuvéeA top 9!? This is a first rounder, you should be swinging for top 6 at least.
Nope. Now we love Slovakia more than ever.montreal fans already hated slovakia...now its worse than ever with slaf and mesar picked
lmao, what makes you think montreal fans hated Slovakia in particular?montreal fans already hated slovakia...now its worse than ever with slaf and mesar picked
Mesar says he wants to play in North America. His rights are owned by Kitchener.
They're simply taking the BPA on their list. That's the way to do it. They're thinking long-term.Kinda strange to go into the draft with wing as the strongest position and draft two of them. I guess they don't see upside to the D and centres in this draft.
Ya there’s upside. His edges and hands are both top tier. That alone makes him dangerous. His shot baffles me though. Sometimes looks good. Sometimes looks like a muffin. If he develops that he can be a dangerous scoring line guy.f***ing love this pick.
One of my favorites in the draft. He's a little waterbug out there, insane skating and agility. His hands are top notch. I think he can play down the middle. He's a lot like Noah Ostlund.

I’d have taken Kulich though. Plus Lambert was there depending on how his interviews went.
Um, is it true that Marty Lapointe said that they factored in Mesar playing with Slafkovsky in making the pick? I certainly hope not, you don't pick a player partly because he has played with another player.
Maybe it’s the OCD in me but I’d have preferred the fit of Kulich. Wright and Kulich… sighKulich was a great option, agreed.. but can't complain with Mesar

Hoping Slaf and Mesar prove they were worth it!
Really happy with this pick. He and Ostlund were my 2 favorites at #26, but Ostlund went really early.
Speed aglore, terrific overall skating quality, skilled, and terrific at both ends of ice.
