Whatever the going rate for a team's best player they don't want to trade on a reasonable contract is. He's young enough and performing well enough he's the last vet I'd trade if we went into a rebuild, since he'd still probably be effective 3-4 years from now.

Maybe 3 1sts or the equivalent in prospects?
Mid/late 1sts, sure. There is a huge difference in value between a top 5, top 16, and #31 1st rounder.

I could see CAR being in on him, to finally get them over the hump. They might be hesitant after getting Guentzel last year, and him not being enough, though.

He has a NMC and will most likely pick his destination. The cost might end up a little cheaper than best offer.

Forsberg won't want to go anywhere. Whatever the "rebuild" plan is (I'll believe it when I see it), it won't involve Forsberg or Josi.

They should trade Saros before his new contract kicks in. Nobody will take the Stamkos contract. I don't know who else is really a fungible asset? Nyquist, Sissons, Lauzon... it won't be a very extreme "rebuild" IMHO... because frankly the Preds already have lots of picks and prospects, and are already trending for a top-5 pick with the current lineup.

Teams trading for Forsberg are less likely to be drafting high up anyway. No reason for a rebuilding team to acquire him.

I mean, Trotz said:

"(Filip) Forsberg, (Roman) Josi, (Ryan) O'Reilly, (Brady) Skjei, and of course Stamkos and Marchessault, they are here," Trotz said. "They aren't going anywhere. And (Juuse) Saros. But everybody else, I might pull out and put in a young kid."

They aren't going anywhere. So. /thread
