Filip Forsberg dirty headshot on Lane Hutson

One of my favourite hits in NHL history

I'm a huge Bure fan and saw that in real time and there was a ton of that going on in that playoff season.

Makes you wonder why all those players had concussion injuries in the 90s eh?

The NHL has come a ways but that Forsberg hit need to be an automatic game even if the NHL headquarters just looks at all game tapes looking for stuff like this, it's just really bad for hockey.

I used to tell my kids when they were young that standing up for yourself means that if someone is doing something to you that you don’t like, and they won’t stop, you’re allowed to do the exact thing back to them and bad enough that they won’t ever do it again. The bure elbow perfectly captures that sentiment .

Nowadays we don’t concuss people but i bet they thought twice about taking liberties on pavel after that.

I really, really don’t like this hit from forsberg. As you know ive really been enjoying lane Hutson this year, he’s the most exciting player we’ve had in what feels like a generation. Ive seen what dumb/careless/malicious plays can do to superstars like crosby, karlsson and mcdavid and i would be crushed if hutsons trajectory was altered because of some dumb ass play like this.

It does but it's outdated.

Bure definitely had more room after that hit, word got around.

Simply put I don't like that hit by any player on any player.

Some time ago I posted on a Canuck dman (in the Canucks forum) crunching the head of a San Jose player, can't remember the exact players involved (I think it was Ohlund and Hertl) and it was more defendable as a somewhat hockey play but I was glad the NHL suspended the Canuck Dman 3 games, head shots need to be taken out of the game....PERIOD and this hit on Hutson is completely indefensible.

Even if Hutson doesn't look "injured" on the play he was as the head simply isn't made for such blunt force trauma and that's why it needs to be taken out of the game.

Yup. I think Betman even said that’s the type of hit the league wants out of the game. Late, blind side, head the target.
The nhl needs to take out this hit. And they bloody well need to protect the star players who the fans pay good money to see play. Forsberg used to be a guy fans paid to see. He’s old now, and (tbh) sucks. He’s done. He’s cooked.

See a number of people saying "two games."
Am I crazy for thinking it should be more? Like, this goes beyond "not a hockey play." This is just a dude going up to somebody and trying to elbow in the head. It's so far removed from the play and so blatant that it's more like a cold-blooded sucker punch than a dirty hit.

The worst thing of all that, its the NHL won't ever talk about it. Not even a social media post. Nothing.

For the X million time, they punish the results not the intent.

Ah, the NHL, where even the most talented players hate skill and try to destroy their peers' blossoming careers. I'm sure discipline will be forthcoming!

Looks like Lane is going for a reverse hit but Forsberg sees it at the last second and is able to protect himself. Sneaky dirty play by Hutson.

Other way around. Both hits deserved discipline. I'm a Habs and Guhle fan, but that hit was super dangerous and unnecessary.
There's nothing dirty about a defenseman finishing a hit on a player who knows he's going to get whistled for a high stick and takes a shot on the goalie anyways. That's just consequences. All Guhle did was ride him past the net. It shouldn't even have been a penalty.

Hit was late. Forsberg saw him a mile away. Huston didn't move awkwardly or put himself in a dangerous spot. Principal point of contact was the head/face/chin.

Throw the book at him.

Was it though? Late and predatory, absolutely.

Would need better angles and views then the 1 link on the OP for me but looks like elbow tucked, chest contact, head contact .. DOPeS have consistently not penalized under this.

It should be ... but it isnt.
