Hopefully we don't have another Tucker Poolman on our hands......and Chytil has missed a ton of time with injuries......and the Rangers have been trying to move on from him for two seasons now.

Fingers-crossed he can stay healthy. At 25, he still has some runway to improve.

Over the last 2.5 seasons he's played 125 games and has paced for 46-47 points / 82 GP during that stretch playing mostly 3rd line / middle-6 minutes.

Two big questions:
1) Is there potential there be a legit 60 point 2nd line center with more opportunity?
2) Even if that potential exists, can he be relied on to stay healthy?

If things work out he can be a solid, valuable cog in the lineup. But there's also a good chance he's pretty much damaged goods. He'll have the chance here to play with top-6 wingers, so let's see what he's got. I'd put him with Garland as that probably is his best chance at getting off to a good start.

I think Rangers fans thought he was done last year around this time. Let’s hope for the best.

I'm intrigued by his speed through the neutral zone and his ability to carry the puck into the offensive zone in control and with pace. That's an element that's sorely lacking on this team.

Actually some teams do have multiple centers in the top 64 based on points per game.
Pettersson ranks mid way in the 2nd center group at #47

Yep in terms of top speed and speed bursts over 20mph they are both above the 90th percentile. Podkolzin is 87th percentile in top speed and above the 90th percentile in speed bursts.

Chytil should be a fun player to watch if he can stay healthy.

Just looked up so speed stats.
Mancini and M.Pettersson are below 50 percentile.
Deharnais was at 62 percentile
Chytil at 92
O'Connor at 90 percentile

Pettersson (C) - under 50

I guess with the system and more defensive type play is should be expected that the team as a whole is below 50 percentile. Slower than half the teams in the league but that ranking is the lowest they give so where they would rank out of all the teams is a guess just tied with 17 to 32.

And I know that the assumption of this thread is that he improves to 60 points.
But it should be noted that so far his best on pace for season is around 50 points.
A lot will depend on his linemates and PP and of course health. Realistically I expect 50 points unless we can acquire another top 6 player to play with him.

I’d be astounded if he started dropping 60 point seasons. That would be a huge win.

Ferland has a tendency to attract punches to his face.. pretty sure Chytil won’t but yeah, hopefully he protects himself better from hits

He would need PP1 time to get to 60.
