I'm not sure he stays for very long, need to put him in situations to be successful but 5v5 he wasn't able to hang on to pucks and make those smart plays he did in the preseason. I'd keep him a few more games but send him back as soon you they think of scratching him.
One game sample size but I have a feeling the Rangers won't keep him past the 9 game threshold.
You cant judge many players on the limited role he had last night. I need to wait and see more of him.
Even worse than the minutes were how spread out the minutes were for the rookie. I would remove Nash from his line and play him a regular 12-14 minutes to see what we have. Maybe JT-Chytil-Zooks?He played 6plus minutes in a game filled with special teams play and he wasn't playing special teams. For **** sake give the kid a few more games before the criticism starts en mass.
The special teams cannot be an excuse. You have to get the kid more ice time. 7:40 is just ridiculous.
They sure as hell can. The game gets choppy because of all the penalties. The kid should not be asked to pk/pp in his first game. So he sits the bench for a bit, he doesn't have to play a set amount every game for his development. It's not going to hurt him sitting and watching for long stretches in a singular game that is being interrupted by frequent penalties.
The NHL isn't a development league, he did nothing to warrant extra ice time last night. AV might AV but it was fine last night.
agreed
Looking at the spreadsheet, he had the worst FF% and was primarily matched up against Landeskog line. Was he as bad as the stat sheet indicated?
