Such a weird evaluation...
Yeah, listen to this: You know what this sounds to me like? He's having some symptoms, and they went to a specialist who's going "if you check five boxes you have a concussion". And he checked four.

Otherwise, why even report this? I guess there is a chance that they are just being extra EXTRA careful, and forcing Chytil to go this even if he feels fine. Which, I'm totally fine at this point, if that is the case.

No concussion but still day to day makes me think it's a broken bone in his face. Tracks with him coming back into the game after the concussion eval the other night. Wouldn't be shocked to see him with some kind of shield when he returns to the lineup.

I didn't need to finish reading after that because I did know what that sounded like.... It hard to think the latter is what took place. I feel something would have leaked about Chytil being fine but they're taking extra precautionary measures here to make sure. In the end I don't really care as long as he's healthy but the evaluation does come off a little weird like they weren't sure because Chytil showed signs of something. Hopefully those signs weren't symptoms related.

He took a shoulder to the face/jaw area. Given his history with concussions I bet they were overly cautious on him traveling, but him returning to the game and being cleared of a concussion makes me think he broke his jaw or something.

I always found is bizarre how people wanted so many specifics when it came to players health/injuries. As if HIPAA wasn't a thing.
I'm glad he's going to be okay.

There's a thing called gambling. NHL is probably the only league in NA to be this vague about injuries. It will change eventually. Lineup announcements too. Coming from Europe, I find it unbelievable that there is such a thing as "game time decision", with lineups and rosters posted like 30mins before puck drop. In Europe with big soccer leagues, starting XI has to be public like 5 hours before kick off, mandated by all the betting companies. The gamblers have to know what they are putting their money into.

that's not how HIPAA works but in general teams don't want to release all the details for various reasons.

as for Chytil, probably just "his neck" so send him to the brone cracker and make sure it's screwed up properly

I get privacy rights and hipaa but professional athletes sacrifice these things as part of their contracts and getting paid. The nhl and professional leagues generally exist due to its customers and this information is very relevant. We’re fans and this impacts the player/team/game.

You’re both correct and incorrect.
The players medical results go directly to the team.
The player waives that portion of their rights.
The team is under zero obligation to release the information to the public and the player is entitled to privacy under HIPAA.
You can argue “paid entertainment “ all you want. You’re just wrong.

You’re entitled to absolutely zero for your support of a sport. You get what crumbs the team and player chooses to release. That’s it.

They are people. Your opinion doesn’t remove their rights.

Now they're saying he'll be in Calgary but won't necessarily play. Which is fine. Take the time to heal.
