Filip Chytil Appreciation Thread

Always played hard and seemed to love the game. If not for injuries and lack of PP time, he'd likely be a 30-30 type player at this point. I will always remember that heater he got on against Carolina and Tampa in the 21-22 playoffs. I feel he met expectations given where he was drafted. Will miss the guy and wish him nothing but the best. On a team full of divas and rotten apples, he was one of the few that seemed to always skate hard and handle himself with grace and dignity.

Thanks for the memories! Hard to see him leave as he made our first round misses in Lias and Krav somewhat tolerable since we got him with the later first rounder. Good player, really likeable attitude.

He was a very easy player to like but he had the shittiest luck. Whenever he seemed to be on the verge of really taking off he'd get injured.

Concussions are no joke and they seemed to be piling up with Fil and they can be career enders and there were several times this season when it was like holding our collective breaths to see if he was going to be alright. After missing almost all of last year that's just too much.

He's got a complete game though. He's an excellent player on offense and defense.

Don't mean to hijack the Chytil thread but watching that pains me to think about how poorly we looked in the last 4 games of that series. That might be the greatest Rangers shift I've ever seen.

Filda has all the tools to be a really good offensive player. The health was a huge issue and concern for me. He is one collision with his own teammates from being toast, let alonr a big hit. I will miss his size, skating, speed, and hands.

One of my favorite goals ever let a lone from Fil. The commentary on it was just perfect the way it just shuts Ray Ferraro up. I remember being at a bar with a couple buddies and couldn’t believe we were actually going to the conference finals.



Another favorite of mine. Think he made this same move in back to back games if I remember correctly. Really thought we were seeing the beginning of a star on this team but horrible injury luck and organizational dysfunction held him back. I really hope he proves all these “one hit away from his career ending” discussions to rest and has an amazing career.

I’m disgusted. Literally one of the 2 or 3 players on this team that was exciting to watch, played with speed, attacked the middle of the ice.

Love Chytil, will always root for him. He will better be able to get over his concussions in Van, imo. The pressure to push himself to be out there was large on him in NY. He is a dynamic as hell player when he's on.

But he rarely plays. 31 points in 57 games since his breakout 22 goal season. He even missed time this year. He collides with his own teammates so much on the ice the awareness is not there. To get JT Miller for him as the main piece is a coup. I am willing to put money on Filip returning to NY someday down the road.

Chytil has been my favorite Ranger for a while now, and I’m sad to see him leave. When the team was bottoming out and starting the “rebuild” between 2016 and 2018, Fil was the first draft pick to come into camp and really wow everyone with what he could do. A skinny, 18 year old Czech kid came in and started blowing by NHL defenseman with the puck. He was oozing all kinds of potential but more than that, he represented hope. The hope that this team was in a bad spot but could be better. He made me hopeful for this team’s future. And for that, I always had a special affection for the player.

All that being said, when his name came up in the Miller rumors, I was getting the feeling that it was time for him to move on. Chytil was never going to get a chance to be more than a 3C here and the health concerns were mounting. But if he stays healthy (big if, I know) and he gets an expanded role and a vote of confidence from the coaching staff in Vancouver, I would not be surprised to see an increase in production similar to what Kakko is doing in Seattle.

Wish Fil nothing but the best and hope for his sake that everything he's endured in his career doesn't impact him after he's done playing.

Nothing but love for this guy. When he got sent down to the AHL to start the season (after spending a full year in the NHL the year prior) he could have pouted and whined and ran away like a certain other loser but he sucked it up, crushed his assignment and then never went back down after he was called back up.

He could have whined about ice time but he never did. He just went out there and played and we're going to miss some of the things that he brought to the team that don't show up in the most obvious ways.

Wish he didn't have the head issues because when he was right, he was an incredibly valuable part of this team.
