Just some thoughts/speculation on contracts, and possible deals involving above players.

Trades:
1.
To Detroit:
D- J. Trouba
D- B. Chiarot

To Winnepeg:
F- G. Nyquist
D- B. Smith
D- X. Ouellet
* Winnepeg gets a guy on the left side that can play immediately in the top-4, another that can be a number 7 and be in the top-4 within 1-2 yrs. as well as a top-6 forward that gives them strong forward talent/depth.

Detroit gets an immediate top-pair guy to go with Dekyser and another younger guy that can play in the top-4 until Kronwall returns.

2.
To Boston:
D- C. Fowler

To Anaheim:
F- R. Spooner
F- N. Accari

* Anaheim gets a cheap, top-6 forward who can play center or wing and plays on the left side.
Boston gets a guy who can play in the top pair and help regulate Chara'a tough minutes.

Signings:

Lindholm: 3yrs. $4.5M per year (just wonder if they're nervous about a long term deal, I believe this leaves him as an RFA after his contract is up?)

Trouba: 5yrs. $5.75M per year (I think he'll get a deal comparable to Rielly/Jones)

Ristolainen: 8yrs. $6.50M per year (Just seems like a Sabres type of deal, just look at O'Reilly, they're not afraid to pay)

so is this like an all encompassing dman situation ideas thread or something?

IMO Trouba is gonna ask for a lot more money than that(IMO I don't even think he deserves more money than the 5 mill per Rielly is making).... unless it was just all apart of the plan to ask for the moon in Winnipeg so he gets traded

If Hampus takes that small of a AAV, itll be only for 2 years, not 3

I like Risto numbers

There's no way Lindholm takes that amount of $ he should get paid more then trouba and risto. Word is he already turned down 5x5

I think its time for Detroit to get a solid Dman. After Lidstrom there hasn't been anyone close in terms of skill and I think Trouba is the best bet to be their franchise D.

Ya if Ducks want him long term, he is gonna get a massive number. I am actually quite nervous for Ducks situation with this

I don't think Spooner plus a 4th line plug like Acciari is going to land Fowler. We have enough of those like most teams. We likely would need Spooner plus one of your high potential prospects like DeBrusk/Chelarik/Senyshyn to be included to be interested.

Don't know how to copy and paste anything, or else i would,Bob Mckenzie saying Lindholm, risto and trouba trying to use Evkblads contract as comparibles , but organization trying to use seth jones and jake gardners as comps... on his twitter

although he deserves it, Ekblad's salary is gonna screw other teams big time. I don't blame Lindholm and Risto using it as a comparible. I would too if I were their agent. Trouba is dreaming if he thinks he can get that though

Sure depends on the return and if he would sign a long term extension with us, Sounds like he wants to play close to home near New York was thinking that the Rangers or Bruins would be the best fit him from the sound of things.

Yeah, I've heard he wants to be out east, preferably on the seaboard.

If he's still available at the trade deadline, he'll be cheaper than he is now. Blues are really risking him walking for nothing.

Anaheim needs to find cap space or a miracle, Lindholm bridge signing.
What does that do for Fowlers value?

Sounds like players are looking at 8x 6-6.5M and management 6y in the 5M range.
I wouldn't have a problem with signing RR or Lindholm for 8 years around 6, that's 1-1.5M less than Ekblads numbers.

(a) I hope the Sabres lets Ristolainen sit for the year.
(b) I really hope the Jets make Trouba sit for the year.
(c) I really, really hope that the Ducks lets Lindholm sit for the year.

Seriously though... some of these contract asks are ridiculous. Why should any of these guys be $2m higher than Reilly or Jones. Ekblad should not have got the contract he did either... who was his comparable? Many teams are going to be in a very precarious situation in a few years if the cap doesn't go up... or only goes up by minimal increments.

Really doesn't impact Fowler's value. The Ducks are not moving him just for the sake of salary relief, and no way he is even considered to move until Lindholm is signed. Despres is another candidate that we can move if the Ducks have to clear salary to sign everyone.

I think Rakell may be the odd guy out if his side is playing hardball. Lindholm is clearly a bigger priority than Rakell, and if Murray has to take some of Rakell's money to sign Lindholm, then he will do so. Ricky may find that all he will be offered is a bridge deal for a lot less money than he's asking for. If he would rather play in the KHL than sign Murray's offer, it will suck for the Ducks depth scoring, but I hope he remembers to bring his winter clothes from Sweden.

Don't disagree with the general thoughts but, according to McKenzie, it's the Ducks who don't want a bridge deal:

Other info:

He also said there's ongoing dialog between Anaheim and Rakell, unlike "a lot of the RFAs, which "seems somewhat positive."

I'm curious - does anyone think these unsigned D's have been in touch with each other, over text for example, to see what their respective numbers are? I'm not suggesting actual collusion per se, but at least feeling each other's positions out. And, have the GMs been colluding, even a little bit, if you had to guess?Does anybody think one of these GMs has left Tallon (no longer GM, but he signed Ekblad) a nasty voicemail?

It's closer to a one mil difference and, in the case of Risto and Lindholm, it's because they're both better players at this point in time.

Risto at Rielly's 5M x 6 would be absolute larceny.
