98.5 The Sports Hub FELGER AND MAZZ - Was Brad Marchand the Bruins' problem in 2025?

Felger is asking all right questions......to do what he's hired to do, which is be a shock jockey. He knows its a lightning rod take that'll get clicks and views. That's all he cares about and that's all his employer cares about.

He's an absolute ass clown, but he's doing what he's paid to do.

For this hypothesis to hold any weight, the Bruins would have looked better when Marchand got injured, which isn't the case.
This was touched on in the postgame thread. The culture in the room was changed by the trades - let's see what happens in Ottawa tomorrow night.
I don't think Marchand is/was the problem. Maybe there was a standard the leadership core, Marchand, Coyle, and Carlo wanted the team to uphold ever since Bergeron was captain, but there is no evidence of that either.

Right now, everyone in the hockey world is calling this Bruins' team a bunch of nobodies that lost their team identity after the trade deadline. They are playing the underdog role really well and look like they are just trying to have some fun out there. They replaced slower players with faster ones, and a lot of guys are fighting for their careers. Time will only tell if this is a brief boost to their play or not.

if they turn it around and somehow make a playoff spot don’t you have to at least ask the question?

I think the shock effect has a lot to do with the turn around and kind of like when Monty was fired and they had a bounce back but more personal because it involved the captain and a Bruins legend.

Yep. There's no such thing as bad publicity......

THIS ^ Why anyone would listen to these two losers is beyond me

They are assholes and anyone believing this or anything they say is a fool.

This is an insult to one of the most dedicated Bruins of all time. f*** them both.

Why put this garbage on our board?

Of course it has changed. 5 major players were traded. :madfire:

Brad is a great Bruin and was an excellent captain. After Pasta and mac though the leadership is thin.

They fact that they couldn't find one player to put the "A" on for the last two games (other than Pasta) says a lot.

So long as his business card and email signature has "absolute ass clown" as his business then I'm ok with it.

I think Carlo and Coyle were the problems.

Brad as captain probably not a perfect fit. Yeah I'm sure he's a ra ra loud locker room guy but he's also a product of being too comfortable local celebrity etc. He was part of the country club problem.

We're worse than the freaking Habs and Bluejackets it's not bc of talent or the roster in paper.

@BMC...YOU sticking up for Brad? If so, it warms my heart!

:biglaugh: I'm afraid not. You know how I feel about him but I really don't like F&M (or anyone for that matter) trying to stir up shit like this after the player is gone.

The only people who know the truth are the players & perhaps the coaching staff. No one has so much as hinted at #63 being a or the problem although I do believe something was going on in that room, the team hasn't been "right" since training camp.

If either Felger or Mazz has evidence of what they were talking about let's see/hear it. Otherwise STFU.

Clearly Marchand was not the best captain they have ever had. It's probably more because he didn't have anyone else in the room to help. Coyle and Carlo were dismissed as well. The brass clearly felt there were issues in the room and this team has had more quit and no shows than the past decade combined easily. Last captain that got ripped on the bench by one coach and benched by another a few months apart? None.

While I am not calling for their dismissal at this current time, it's amazing how the President and GM can fire coaches, trade players, and be so safe in Jacobs embrace it makes zero sense. This group inherited Bergeron, Krejci, Lucic, Hamilton, Krug, Chara, Pastrnak and Rask and got past the second round ONCE!. CHarlie says only cups matter but clearly they don't when it comes to judging his right hand men.

They did a great job of cleaning house last week. I applaud it. I even posted something along the lines of being sick and tired of watching the Frederics, Coyles and Carlos of the world. WIth all that being said, Charlie should have said to the management team "You're Next" Gut this thing completely if this summers and next summers UFA's leave something to be desired still. He won't though, He's found his Sinden.
