My team is the Habs. Have said that I love hockey. I don't mind the odd fight an that is because sometimes you just have to police some out of control player. But we all know which teams sell hockey to their fans using the violence, the fighting, the full on intimidation tactics. This is what I don't like. It's wrong, it's not hockey. It's the wrong message to the kids. I have been a hockey fan for over 55 years. Every decade or so as Hockey becomes REAL hockey it seems a few GM's, seeing that the game is " now soft " ***** the best way to get a cup is to load up on big tough players and then GO TO WAR. Of course for a few years they do well because all the other teams are caught off guard, until they " load up " then thing become equal and the NHL has to step in to lower the violence again and back to real hockey we go. This has happened in the 40's then the 50's then the 60's then the Broadstreet bullies and so on. Over those years many more Euro players came over with no fighting skills at all but great hockey skills. This bully hockey has taken a back seat more and more but it's NOT gone. Some current NHL fans still want the fights and not hockey. it sells seats and again some GM's need to fill the seats at all costs. I leave it to you to judge which teams are run by these GM's. Owners like money more the the sport of hockey and thats why it continues. The best hockey I have ever seen was the 72 series. As tough, as fast, as important as anything I have seen in my life, funny though " no fights " If your not old enough to have seen this series, well I am sorry for you. Real Hockey at the very best and it kept the entire nation on the seat of their pants both in Canada and in the USSR. The kind of event that you just NEVER forget.
