Sure for a short window when he was with the young turks in Edmonton, in the playoffs after 85 not so much and even in the regular season playing mostly with a prime Mario he was putting up points but not dominating as evidenced by ESGF/ESGA.

The historical record shows this.
Does your historical record include the 1985-86 season when Coffey broke Orr's goals record and scored the most primary points of any Dman in history?

Or the 1993-94 season when Coffey had 77 points and went +28?

Or the 1995 season when Coffey won the Norris?

All DPE games, to boot.
Er... well, no.

The DPE didn't really start until October 1997. Jagr's first playoff was April 1991. Jagr had played 98 playoff games (for reference, more games than McDavid's entire career to date; more than Goulet or Lindros's entire career) by the time the DPE started.

Which underscores my point -- Jagr played a staggering 45 playoff games (equal to Paul Kariya's entire career ending age 35) by the time he was barely 20 years old.

Jagr at age 19 scored 13 points in his first 24 playoff games, as the Pens won the Cup. He did much better the next season with 24 points in 21 games. However, what if Jagr had been age 23 (like Mario Lemieux) in his first playoff games, under those (still high) scoring conditions? He then would have reached 100 playoff points a lot faster.
