Stamkos pre-injury was known as a speedster and his skating was his strongest attribute, but post-Titanium rod Stamkos at the age of 34 being #2 in NHL?

This mainly makes me question the validity of these measurements.

MacKinnon being at the top for most frequent speed bursts does make perfect sense, though. It's his trademark. And in general, the lists for those two attributes look more sensible than the ones for max speed. Hintz being near the top, and probably the best pound-for-pound skater for his size, also matches the eye test.

I wonder what the error margin is on these. The top speed ones likely are wacky, but the burst ones probably cancel out via sample size.
Speed bursts is the more important one, not top speed

I presume they don't track that. It would be interesting to add that measurement.
Yes it’s tracked, they just don’t distinguish in the numbers if with puck or no puck.
The puck doesn’t know whose stick it is on, the jersey chip, just knows how fast player is skating, it has zero idea if player has the puck.

Are there any stats tracking acceleration? I know that’s one of the most important aspects of skating for hockey players and something amateur scouts really focus on.

For a defenseman being the slowest could actually be a good thing. It could mean he's so good in positioning that he doesn't need to display his speed. Because I can't say Gavrikov or Zub are particularly slow.

The clip of Slavin hitting the league-wide highest speed involves him going around the net in the offensive zone, way out of position. Credit to him for having the athleticism to get back, but it was only required because he was as far out of position as can be. So you're onto something.
